Penny is 'Miss Penelo' to Heihachi, because he's not going to make the mistake of treating her magical talent with any less than the respect it deserves. He's always been extra polite to doctors and healers because he thinks they have the hardest job on the battlefield...however, with a bit more time spent together I think he'll drop it for something less formal.

Frankly, Heihachi adores Penny. She's the right sort of balance between pragmatic and earnestly helpful and he wants to treat her like a sibling. For the record, he hasn't forgotten those chocolates he owes her, and shall be bringing those back with interest~♥

Kaaaaatsu~~~! smiling_samurai December 4 2008, 23:20:41 UTC
Heihachi uses 'Katsushiro-dono' in full most of the time even though their past relationship would allow him to use something a lot more familiar. This is his way of acknowledging that Katsu has become a full samurai and is therefore worthy of being treated as an equal. :3 Although in his head and around Gorobei, he would use 'Katsu-kun'.

While Katsu isn't his student, Heihachi also wants to sort of guide him along and give him a balancing viewpoint to compare with Kambei's. Katsu had very rigid views on the samurai way when they first met, but Heihachi's always believed that each samurai needs to find their own path of what works and what doesn't. He also kind of hopes that Katsu will loosen up a bit as he gets more comfortable with the idea that honour can be a little more malleable than he seems to think.

Lavi! smiling_samurai December 4 2008, 23:24:56 UTC
Lavi is just 'Lavi' to Heihachi. X3 They don't know each other that well yet, but Heihachi feels comfortable enough with him to drop any sort of honorific.

Not much has changed from the last meme except that Heihachi did take note when Lavi contacted him after the accidental voice point in Ivona. While he wasn't quite ready to divulge anything personal, he does appreciate that Lavi cared enough to ask, and will be going out of his way to share a bowl of rice with Lavi whenever he gets back to the 4423.

And the Dog~ smiling_samurai December 4 2008, 23:29:56 UTC
Heihachi thinks the dog's name is too long. =X And thus it shall probably be shortened to 'Dog' when they get around to interacting.

And they will! Because Heihachi specifically wants to go out of his way to thank the Dog after the incident with Toshirou, particularly because Toshirou himself will never apologise for himself. This thank you will likely involve sausages and ear scritches.

Aside from that, after meeting Mao Heihachi isn't too put off by talking animal demi-humans, and since the Dog is easily mollified by food Heihachi will think this is a wonderful way to bond.

Have a Hijikata. Did I not throw him at your meme for this last time? o_o;

=3 You did, but it never hurts to go again!

Heihachi takes his cue from Souji here, and calls Zou 'Mister Hijikata' with a strong mix of both affection and respect. That particular title has become a nickname in itself, to the point where Heihachi even thinks of him as 'Mister Hijikata'. XD He'll probably never use anything else, no matter how close they get.

While everything on the first meme still holds true, here's an additional revelation. Heihachi holds Hijikata to a very similar level of respect that he does Kambei, but while he'd trust Kambei with a problem that required some personal input, he'd trust Zou to be an absolutely unbiased source of advice. While he likes Zou a lot, in some ways he appreciates that Hijikata's personality means there were always be a span of distance between them, because there are some issues were he would rather go to someone with complete impartiality.

That said, Heihachi has a gift for Zou when he gets back to the ship. X3

Well, you know. Even Souji-during-sex keeps it to "Mister Hijikata". It'd be downright weird if he let anyone else get less formal with him, anyway XD

A gift? =o

Uh huh. A very pragmatic one that Heihachi is extremely conflicted about, hence he's giving it to Zou rather than anyone else. X3 The benefit of that 'complete impartiality' thing.

Toshirou gets the '-kun' suffux because Heihachi treats him with a lot of affection, and due to Toshi's sometimes childish behaviour he's definitely the younger one in their relationship. He makes up for this by always using Toshi's full name though, since he's noticed that Toshirou doesn't appreciate having it shortened to anything.

As an extra point of interest, he's noticed he's one of the few (only?) people that Toshi uses an honorific with in return. XD And he's kind of touched by that.

I practically have enough material to write a novel on this particular relationship, but a lot of it stems from a matter of need. He's known from the beginning that Toshirou's coldness is there to cover a lot of inner flaws. In ways, Toshirou is his own worst enemy - not just the uncontrollable nature of his powers but his whole personality makes him unable and unwilling to accept help, friendship and comfort which are things that Heihachi considers very important. To that end he's gone out of his way to give Toshirou those things in the hopes ( ... )

Aw shota hurts Heihachi's brain methinks lol. Yes the friendship/closeness was unintentional but Heihachi just wouldn't go away or give up like everyone else.

Way too long, Kambei-dono.

Although in spite of that example, Kambei may notice that most of the time Heihachi drops the honorific and just calls him by his first name to reflect their closeness. [By contrast, Gorobei almost always gets the honorific even though he and Heihachi are more like-minded, but that's another story. ;D]

Heihachi misses Kambei kind of lots, right now. He really can't wait to come back and have someone to talk to this rather unusual journey about, as well as help him figure out a few things about Jushirou/Toshirou/Gorobei that have been eating at him for a while. Kambei is someone he trusts to be a comfortingly solid pillar who won't mind listening to a bit of Heihachi's pent up confusion. 8(

Kambei is also the person who Heihachi feels safest following when his own path seems to be muddled, and he's never appreciated that so much as now. He's looking forward to being back at Kambei's side so he can have some time to resolve his own inner conflicts while knowing he's still moving in the right direction.
