you deserve better than me

I have decided, after MUCH careful consideration and talks with God, that I will not be attending Confirmation classes at St. Matthews (or any other church) and therefore will not be confirmed as a Catholic. This decision really only affects my family and i (and probably Kate as well), but i just wanted to put it out here now so that i don't get a ( Read more... )

you know, you're absolutely right. i know I may have seemed a little alarmed early when you told me, but I guess I just didn't see what you were saying. Anyway, this is a lot like what my brother did. I remember when he decided not to be a Catholic anymore, he went to so many different churches that were nothing like churches. He took me to one and I was so enthralled with how cool it was, I didn't realize that it's not what I wanted. I don't know that I believe in everything that Catholicism stands for, but something about the masses uniformity makes it special for me. I find that my conversations with God outside of church are always stronger and less 'Dear God, Please Bless My Dog'. But church for me is just a place to go and clear my thoughts, sing, and hear the word of the Lord explained.
Anyway, I have nothing against your decision.
Because I love you :)

Well, i'm just glad you're not freaking out or judging me (even though i know you wouldn't do that). Now it's just my aunts and uncles i have to worry about...but then again i live almost two hours away from them so even if they never speak to me again, it won't matter :)
I really admire your brother. Not just because he's cool and wants to look at monkies with you, but because he always does his own thing. I don't think your brother could ever be in a crowd and not stand out. Some people just have that way about them i guess. You do too, you know :)
