I'm trying to get something organized for an end of the year gift for Michael's teacher from the whole class. I found a quote online (Teachers nurture the seeds of today so they might bloom into the flowers of tomorrow) that I want to put on a piece of large paper then have the kids make handprint flowers with their names on them. I'm not sure what else to do. I not just went home asking for money for supplies for the end of the year party so I think asking for money for a gift might be a little much. I dont know. . . I do need to get started on the flowers though. There are only 3 full weeks of school left! The grandma that's always around pulls kids out of the classroom for reading all the time so I'm going to work on it while she's around so the teacher wont get suspicious. I think she told me she'll be there this Thursday & Friday and then Monday & Tuesday of next week.
As of right now this is how things are going to be for next year. Michael's teacher will teach kindergarten, Matthew's teacher will move up to teach 2/3 as will the current k/1 teacher. She will be job sharing with a current 3/4 teacher. The other current 1/2 teacher will teach 1st grade. Another of the current 3/4 teachers will also teach 2/3. I didnt bother finding out much more beyond that because 4/5 doesnt concern me at the moment. I'll worry about that next year! So I'm not too worried about Matthew. I'd like him to have his teacher again next year but I've heard people say the principal wont allow any of her current class to have her next year because having the same teacher 3 or 4 years in a row is not good. Who is he to decide that? He's not even going to be here! I'd be ok with him having the current 3/4 teacher. That's who he has been hoping to get all year anyway. I do not want him in the job sharing class! I LOVE the current k/1 teacher. She is one of the kindest people I have ever met but I dont think she's a good fit for Matthew as a teacher. I've heard nothing but good things about the other teacher she will be job sharing with but I dont like the way they are doing job sharing. One will work 3 days one week and the other will work 2 days. The following week it would be reversed. No idea if it will be 3 consecutive days working or every other day. I'm SO worried about Michael though. I do not like anything about the teacher that will be teaching 1st grade next year. :( She's rude, she's lazy, completely unorganized, constantly yelling and putting her students down. The complete opposite of what you'd expect out of a teacher! I'm up at the school a lot as it is but I'm there because I want to be. I dont want to be there because I feel the need to watch over my child constantly and protect him from his teacher! It's also been said that there will be a k/1 class again next year. It didnt work this year so I dont know why they're going to do it again. I dont want Michael in that because Michael will only do as well as those around him. He excelled in reading when he was placed in a higher group and didnt go anywhere with his reading while in a lower group. If he's in k/1 and has to wait for the kindergartners to learn the alphabet he's just going to be sitting around doing nothing. I think that's true of any first grader though. Kindergarten and first grade are just way too different to combine. I can only hope that we get enough enrollment over the summer to create 2 kindergarten and first grade classrooms so I will hopefully have another option.
Book Club was last night. We only have one more week left. :( I had to bring all the boys with me. Bryan worked late. Matthew & Michael went to the gym again and Jacob stayed with me. He was pretty crabby. I ended up letting him walk around the library just so he stayed quiet. Then he wanted to yank all the books off the shelf. Luckily he didnt get more than one or two! I was so ready for a break by the time we left. Matthew wanted to argue with me about getting buckled in his seat. Every time I would buckle him he'd stick his foot out so I couldnt close the door. Then when I'd get the door closed, walk around to sit down he'd be unbuckled and standing up again! AAAHHH!
Family Council is tonight. Tomorrow morning I have to go to WIC. I havent had an actual appointment there in a year so I guess I cant complain too much. Thursday I'm having breakfast with Marsha then taking the kids to get haircuts. Still undecided if I'm going to get Jacob's haircut or not. :/
The boys stayed the night at Tony's on Saturday. I asked if they wanted to keep Jacob for a couple hours too. Not even 10 minutes later Uncle Jimmy called and asked if they would watch Maria & Jimmy. lol They ended up with 7 kids one of his neighbor's kids was there playing. We got back to his house around 9pm and that boy was still there! Katherine said she tried to take him home but when he whined his mother would let him do whatever he wanted. My boys had so much fun though. We went out with Kirk & Dawn. Had dinner at Shores Inn. It was nice but too short.
Sunday Bryan and I bought the bike for Mom then went to church. We picked the boys up from Tony then headed to Mom's to make dinner. She wanted stuffed cabbage. Bryan put the bike together while I made dinner. It was ready to go in the oven by 3pm but there wasnt very much. I called Tony to find out if they were coming for dinner or not. Before we left his house he said they were going to try taking Katherine's parents out and that her parents were making chicken for dinner but they Katherine said they'd come for dinner. I had to go get more stuff then go back to the house to make it. I was so aggravated. Dinner was not done until 7:30pm then I had to clean up all the dishes because my brother and sister are too lazy to help with anything. Mom did love the bike though. She hasnt been on one in years and fell off when she tried it for the first time. Teresa recorded a video with her phone. lol You can hear Tony in the background saying for her birthday we need to buy her some health insurance.
Speaking of bikes. Today is a gorgeous day for a ride and I wish I would have thought of it earlier. I would have had Bryan bring the boys bikes to school so we could all ride home together. Instead I'm going to bring them to Pauline, drive back home and ride my bike to the school. I better get moving!
