It's official - gay marriage is illegal. For now.
The CA Supreme Court decided 6-1 to take up the lawsuits against Prop 8, but refused to stay the proposition while the lawsuits were heard. I believe they said oral arguments could begin as early as March.

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS/AP) -- California's highest court has agreed to hear legal challenges to the state's new same-sex marriage ban, but is refusing to allow gay couples to resume marrying until it rules on the measure's validity.
The California Supreme Court on Wednesday accepted three lawsuits seeking to overturn Proposition 8, a constitutional amendment which passed with 52 percent of the vote. As is its custom when it takes up cases, the court did not elaborate on its decision.
All three cases claim Proposition 8 abridges the civil rights of a vulnerable minority group and therefore voters alone did not have the authority to enact such a significant constitutional change.
