Road Trip - Day 4

I love South Dakota! It is beautiful here, with all the nature, trees, prarie dogs, bison, deer, horses, and not much else! There is something going on this week called Sturgis, where all the bikers (motorcycle) ride out here for a weeklong convention. I am currently in Custer, SD, not far from Sturgis and there are hundreds of bikers here, their rides all parked along a makeshift median on the downtown strip. People are staring at me funny. Yes people, its called "Asian". And don't shake your head about us being from California either! Anyway, we went to Mount Rushmore, which is pretty darn cool.

Anyway, earlier today we were in Cheyenne Wyoming. Home of the cowboys. Wyoming is the least populated state in the US and they have a cute logo with a bucking cowboy in a horse, holding his hat up. I bought a hat picturing that.

Last night was Denver. Denver is...LA is the Rockies. Nothing spectacular. In fact, I would rather live in LA.

Before that was Rocky Mountain National Park. Nice, but nothing I haven't seen before. We saw elk and the Continental Divide. What is that anyway?

Backtrack to Grand Junction, Colorado. Nice quaint town, known for its winerys. By the way, CO has a lot of alcohol. Wine in Grand Juncion, and beer everywhere else. GJ is not known for its diversity, but it is quite cute nontheless. I think part of it is also involved in tractors or something...

The rest of Utah was breathtaking. Imagine giant castles made out of red rock guarded by intimidating jagged mountain pieces guarding it, with a stormy sky as a backdrop. Driving through Utah literally made us gasp and jump out to capture photos, none of them which will really tell the story. Just grand and majestic, as if a miracle was born into this great earth.

Something funny. As we drove through Hot Springs, SD, we noticed the police station. It was someone's tiny house, with one police car out front. Crazy huh? Must be very safe.
