Author's Note: I've been away for a couple of days. :( Sorry, guys! School is back too. :( But no worries! In just a few days, it'll be Christmas break anyway. :)  Ahhh and it's getting a bit colder every night, that is why I have a runny nose and I can't breathe in to it. Which sucks.

Chapter Five

Sho toured them around the school with ease. He, at first was nervous because of a certain guitarist's presence but now here he was, having fun, nervousness gone.

Their tour ended really well and Aiba challenged them for a race. Whoever reaches their place last, will buy coffee jellies for everyone. The game was only for the three of them, Aiba, Ohno and Sho since they were the only ones who knew of their place. Nino and Jun looked at them with confusion as they ready themselves.

"Wait," Nino speaks up. "Where do you think you guys are going? What are you doing?"

"We're playing a game," Aiba responds. Nino scoffs.

"I can see that, idiot. What I meant is, where you guys are going? You're just going leave me and Jun here?"

"He's got a point, Masaki," Ohno says, tugging his sleeve. "We can't just leave them here. They should come with us."

"Alright, you guys can come!"

Nino gave Ohno a silent 'thank you' in which Ohno response was a grin. Jun smiled. "So, where to?"

"From here, turn left," Sho starts giving directions as soon as Nino and Jun got ready. Nino settled himself next to Sho. "go down the stairs, turn right from the teacher's lounge, then left, go down the stairs again, find your exit and go right then straight. Got it?"

Jun nodded and Nino looked like he was calculating, his eyes closed and lips moving, murmuring Sho's last words. Sho eyes crinkled in amusement and Nino gives a nod to say he's ready. "Okay, let's do this."

Aiba signals the start of their race. "Ready, set...go!"

The five of them start in unison, picking up their paces. Their loud footsteps from running could be heard from the hall. Sho thought they were going to scolded for running because he knew they weren't suppose to run through the hallways but that thought slips from his thoughts when he saw Nino passing by him. Nino looks over his shoulder and sticks his tongue out to him.

"Catch up, Sakurai-sempai," Nino smirks with his words. Sho's face vasolidates but he was motivated to increase his pace, catching up with the latter soon. Nino raises a brow at him, speeding up, leaving Sho behind. But Sho doesn't want to give up that easily so he tries his best to catch up.

Surprisingly, Jun was the first one to arrive, followed by Ohno and Aiba. Nino and Sho are still in the race, fighting for the fourth place than the last. They were already tired because they used up all their energy to be able to run as fast they want. Sho was known for not being so good at sports but he wouldn't let himself lose to Nino no matter what.

He sees his friends by the imaginary finish line and he bites his teeth harder, running with all he has. When both him and Nino reach the finish line, they both fell down by the grass, catching their breaths. Sho clutches his pacing heart, breathing hard with sweat trickling down his chin. He wipes it off and gave a look at Aiba.

"So, who was the last one, Aiba?"

"You guys tied," Aiba giggles. "But even so, you guys were still the last ones to come so, you guys lost." Aiba pulls out his wallet from the back pocket of his pants and pulls out a 1000 yen bill. He hands it over to Nino, who grumbles at his loss. He snatches it from Aiba's hand and stands up. "I hate losing," whispers Nino. He offers a hand to Sakurai, who gladly accepts it. He dusted himself before following the grumbling latter towards the cafeteria.

"Hurry back!" Aiba shouts as they depart. "And Sakurai, you owe me 1000 yen!"

_____

Sho follows Nino from behind. He stares at his messy hair and how it falls on his nape, his skinny form and his slouched shoulders. Sho didn't like how thin Nino looked. He sighed.

"We lost, huh?" Nino says. Sho nods because obviously, they did lose. "This sucks but I'm glad Aiba gave us money to buy the coffee jellies. I mean, I'm broke."

"I have to pay him back though," Sho says with exasperation. Nino laughs. They make their way to cafeteria and they go to the line where they order their food. The two boys groan knowing how long the line is.

"Sakurai-sempai," Nino says, casually, looking down at the dirt he saw on the corner of his black shoes. Sho almost jumps back in surprise when he heard his friend call him that again. He squeaks out a "yes?" that he wished he didn't say in such a small voice. It only made Nino laugh again. "I'm not...used to calling you 'Sakurai-sempai', it's kind of funny."

"I know," Sho smiles. "I was quite surprised you called me that."

"I even called you 'Sho-chan' even when we just met for the first time,"

"I'm okay with it," Sho says, voice normal to his surprise. "I'm used to it. You and Aiba-chan are the only ones who call me that."

"I see," Nino starts playing with his fingers which Sho noticed were stubby and cute. He had to fight an urge to grab them and squeeze them with his own. But thankfully, it was their turn in line. The lunch lady greets them with a smile, asking them what they wanted to get for lunch. Nino and Sho responded at the same time. "5 coffee jellies, please." The lunch lady gives warm giggle while Nino and Sho turn towards each other after they spoke.

"Here you go, boys," The lunch lady puts the tray of coffee jellies in front of them. "Enjoy."

Nino and Sho reached for it at the same time and when their fingers brushed against each other, they pulled back. Their eyes meet and Sho couldn't resist a blush. It was like they were in a manga, where a girl and a guy reaches for the same thing, fingers touching and yada, yada. There was a short silence between them in which Sho broke.

Sho clears his throat. "I'll carry this, it's fine." He grabs the tray, balancing the five jellies that wiggle when he lifted the tray. Nino pays and receives the change before they start walking back to their place.

______

The trio was ecstatic for their return. They all grabbed their own coffee jelly and spoon before they all start devouring it like animals with their prey in the jungle. Aiba kisses Ohno's cheek with a toothy grin before he lays his head on his lap, enjoying his meal. Ohno shouts "Umai!" constantly.

Sho eats by the bench with Nino. "How is it?"

"It's really delicious." Nino grins. "I haven't eaten this in a while."

They keep eating right after their small talks until Sho was able to finish his. He felt sad he was all out but it was a great meal to enjoy. The latter beside him continues to enjoy his food, eating it slowly. Sho was unaware of himself staring at the younger boy. The boy must have felt Sho staring at him because from behind the bangs that covered his eyes, he saw and lifted his head up. Sho's head moves back from his gaze. His face started to flush again. "What?"

"N-nothing." Here he goes again. His heart started thudding fast in his chest; he felt like he couldn't swallow what he feels in his throat especially under the gaze Nino gives him. A heart-pacing moment passed by and Sho could even see the tension he was accidently giving off. Nino must think he's a crazy freak now.

Sho used this small time to try and figure out the chaotic emotions he could he feel in his gut, his heart and his mind whenever he's around the Ninomiya Kazunari.

But he knew this time wasn't the right time to do this because---

"Is something wrong, Sho?" Nino asked, still casual, no hint of fear or backing away from him. Sho dropped his eyes on his fingers that were gripping the small container of his now empty coffee jelly.

--he just knew that this really wasn't the right time.

He looked up again, meeting those fantastic brown eyes once again. He repeated his answer to his previous question. "I-it's nothing. Sorry."

Nino gives out a quiet chuckle as he finishes his last spoonful of jelly. Sho felt himself smiling again, blushing while he did.

Another chuckle came out from Nino's lips but this time, he closed his eyes for a brief one or two seconds with a shake of his head, amused.

Sho swallowed the lump in his throat, heart racing up again as he engraved that image in his mind.

Nino opened his eyes again and focused on Sho's again. "So odd," Nino murmured under his breath, more to himself. Sho felt a buzz of emotions thrive excitedly on his chest.

The bell rang, signaling the end of lunch. Aiba starts calling him, alongside Ohno happily. He turned to them to let them know they've got his attention already before turning back at Nino.

"So, are you going to stand up and go to your class or are you going to have another mood swing?" Nino smirked, standing up and giving Sho a pat on his shoulder. "See ya, Sho-chan."

Sho chose to stand after Nino left with Jun, following behind Aiba and Ohno who were joking about something he didn't quite catch. He looked behind his shoulder to look at Nino for the last time. Sho really needed to do something about what he was feeling earlier.
