So... You know how I said that I found patterns for things that I could make for people this Christmas? And you know how I said that I was going to have to get cracking on something due to a significant decrease in the amount of time before one of those gatherings happened?
Well, I went shopping, found the fabric for a couple of them, and got working on them starting Tuesday. That's about the same time that I realized that one of the gift patterns wasn't for what I thought it was for. In the interest of keeping things on the downlow, let's just say that I thought I was making something that was larger. Something that could maybe carry things. Instead, it can still carry things, just not as many.
Okay, fine. I'll just go ahead and start making the thing, and see how small it's going to end up being (for some reason, measurements don't translate in my head). I'm about a third of the way through.
Fabric for the project
Here's where it stands now. Actually, it's stitched together now, so this picture is a little behind.
By the way, it tends to be a pain in the ass for me to predict which fabrics my friends will like best. I have something in my head most of the time, colors or combinations that I think will go well. But then comes in the doubt, as well as the "I'm not sure if they actually LIKE the color purple..."
So much drama in my own head. :)
Anyway, this thing is coming together a little faster than I thought it would, so if I decide to finish the other iterations, I should be able to get them done well before the gathering. If not, I've really got to figure out what the hell I'm going to do.
In other news, the Society of Women Engineers national conference I attended last week went really well. I went into it thinking that I'd try it once, and leave it at that. But outside of a couple things I wouldn't do again, I would definitely attend again!
This weekend I'm heading with the SO down to Indiana. There's a festive reason for us to head down that I can't talk about right now, but what I can say is that the SO and I are kidnapping my mother-in-law to bring her back to our house for a little over a week. I'm super happy that we're going to be able to remove her from her stressful situations, a vacation away from everything. She deserves it.
That's all for now. I'll be holding off on posting the pictures of the gifts until after they're given!
