Well, we've had New Dog - Yaeger, Bugsy Malone, Bingley, Bosco, and finally Buster - for about a week now and things have evened out a bit. He's aggressive when it comes to treats, but we're hoping to break him of that. Darcy keeps nipping him, but eventually he's going to have to learn to stop sticking his cold nose at her butt for attention. He ( Read more... )

Oh, poor Buster...

also, the loud dogfights where no one gets hurt - okay. They're not fights, it's communication. If there is BLOOD it is a fight.

Communication can be frightening for humans but it is very natural for dogs.

Yeah, we figured if anyone was going to be missing a leg, Bebo would have ripped it off by now. As is, we let them duke it out for a little while and them break them up with water.

Weirdly, reading this makes me envious more than anything. :P I want a new dog! It's a huge pain in the ass at the time, I know -- but I miss it anyway. And Buster-Goomba sounds like an adorable little spitfire.

Also, there is a special place in hell for anyone who lets a young dog go un-heartworm-medicated. I do not envy you the task of keeping a year-old puppy calm/still-ish while he recovers. (Been through that one, too, and if I ever end up in a room with City Mouse's former owner, only one of us is coming out of it alive.) Does he like rides in the car? I used to take Miss City with me on errands just to add some interest to her life during recovery.

He is a little ball of wiggly-happy, I admit. He's a funny little bobble head, but he loves to copy everything Bebo does and he just adores Dad.

He was barely 7 months when the rescue found him and he tested negative then, but it sounds like he had heartworms, they were just in the undetectable 4th stage. So, they gave him treatment, but it was too late to stop the older ones. He was a stray before that and, believe you me, anyone who can throw a 2-3 month old puppy out on it's own deserved a 2x4 to the face.

Repeatedly.

And, goodness, the weeks after heartworm treatment is going to be a nightmare. I have to admit, I'm glad I'm not going to be the one dealing with it, because it would just break my heart to have to keep him crated for hours at a time when he shouldn't have to be. He's only so-so about car rides - in general, he hates anything with wheels. It's pretty obvious he's been teased with a lawn mower before.

Aw, he's just a PUPPY!

I hope the heartworm thing goes well. When I got my Mew, she had some issues and had to go in for surgery. It was awful. She was just fine though and now she's fit as a kitty can be. And snores louder than a drunken frat boy.

It's good to hear the new pup is settling in ok.

I suspect you will not get your card. I totally sent it to the wrong address. :((

I'll send you a house warming card to the new address. <3333
