LOVE IN A SNAP

Pairing: YunJae
Genre: Fluff, Romance

Summary: Jaejoong is set on capturing the heart of Eri. Except in order to do that, he has to win against the charming Jung Yunho who is also actively pursuing her. Now hoping to get an edge over his rival, Jaejoong sabotages the man’s every attempt to woo the girl he likes. But just when he thought everything was going according to plan, an accident happens that somehow, by twist of fate, directs Yunho’s charm and unbidden attention towards him.

A little flashback to where we left off:

YunJae are paired up as lab partners.

They then got stuck in the library then

the accidental kiss happened!

***

Terribly caught by surprise, they broke apart by instinct like that artless contact between their lips had burned.

"What..." Jaejoong staggered to the side, but quickly forced himself to straighten up and regain control over his feet which now felt like jelly. "...the hell was that?” he continued in a horrified whisper.

With each passing moment while they silently looked at each other, the reality of the situation started to paint a clearer picture as realization kicked in.

Their eyes widened comically.

"You kissed me." They said in unison. There was a lightbulb moment, flickering continuously now that it all added up.

"No, you kissed me!" Again, they clarified at the same time.

“Did not!” Jaejoong poked Yunho on the shoulder.

“Did too!” Yunho poked right back.

They stared each other down, obviously not one or the other was ready to concede just yet.

Yunho sighed. “Okay, stop. This argument is pointless.” He whispered back in annoyance. “It was an accident, and as far as I’m concerned, nothing happened.”

“Easy for you to say, you…” Jaejoong drilled a finger into Yunho’s shoulder. “You first kiss thief!”

“Watch it!” Yunho rubbed the sore spot, equally glaring back with his beady eyes. It took a few seconds before he blinked in surprise not expecting what Jaejoong just said.

“Wait, what did you say?”

Jaejoong ignored him, mumbling to himself seemingly unaware of what he’d just confessed during his outburst. “Ugh, I have to get it off.” Jaejoong shuddered, wiping his lips with the back of his hand, rubbing at it incessantly until it grew swollen. “Must. Not. Catch. Yunho. Cooties!”

Yunho kept silent all this time, looking at Jaejoong like he was a thousand year old artifact.

Jaejoong sensing this, looked up baring his teeth like a feline. “What?!” he hissed.

A faint conversation from afar was a quick reminder that they were far from a safe place to argue. “Hey,” Yunho lowered his voice. Worried that Jaejoong’s theatrics would give away their position, he practically pushed the scowling man back into hiding.

“You’re making too much noise.”

Jaejoong sidestepped and swatted his arms away. “I can't think straight, not when you’re in my personal space like this. I feel violated!” He needed a minute… no, maybe forever, to process what just happened. He also hated that he couldn’t gauge what the other was thinking.

Yunho considered to refute but the footsteps grew louder making them both hold their breath in nervousness.

“I’ll apologize in advance then,” Yunho let out a strained sigh. “Because you'll just have to let me violate you for a while."

Jaejoong shot him an incredulous look. "Do you have a death wish?”

"No, but we're good as dead if you don't stay close." Without another word, he yanked Jaejoong forward by the waist so there was very little space between them.

Jaejoong’s head rapidly jerked upward in response, surprised to find Yunho staring intently at him. Every fine hair on his body started to raise leaving him practically frozen in place. His cheeks immediately bloomed into a blazing color of red and felt  his heart beat so fast now that he was encased in Yunho's solid grip.

Jaejoong turned his head away from the other's intense gaze. “I don’t think this is necessary.”

“Like I have a choice.” Yunho simply answered.

With an irritated sigh, Jaejoong answered, “Fine.” But he had an idea.

“How long do you think we’re going to be in here?” Jaejoong asked distracting Yunho while  snapping his fingers twice behind his back.

“The sooner we get out, the better--”

There was a series of loud thumping noise coming from the opposite side of the library which sounded like a couple of books falling from the shelves onto the wooden floor.

An abrupt silence and then they heard running foot steps down the hall way, the sound of it going faint each second. Whoever was in the library must have ran over to the other end to check what was causing it.

Jaejoong's face brightened. "Come on, it’s our chance to leave,” he urged.

“Let’s take the north exit. It’s closer.”

Jaejoong nodded. “Okay, Okay! Hurry!”

He managed two quick long strides only to almost fall on his face when he felt Yunho's hand slip into his. There was no chance to react for he was already being pulled into the quickest exit they could get to. The adrenaline was to blame, he reasoned, and soon he was running alongside Yunho without thinking much of the hand-holding.

Reaching the exit door without getting caught was like crossing the finish line to a marathon. They both woop’d in joy, laughing maniacally and even almost hugged at one point but fell into a dead stop when they realized just what they were about to do. The smiles faded and turned into complete awkwardness.

Jaejoong looked down and saw their still entwined hands. He cleared his throat. “You can let go now."

“Oh! Right. Sorry.” Yunho blinked, releasing his hold. He shifted on his feet, looking unsure of what to do next. “Uh, I guess I'll meet you after class."

“Yeah, okay.” Jaejoong replied blankly.

After a quick  exchange of goodbyes, Jaejoong shooed Yunho away. Making sure the other was far enough to notice, he swiped a finger over his  mouth… almost positive he felt a little tingling sensation upon contact with his fingertip. Out of curiosity, he stared at Yunho’s back for a full ten seconds before nodding to himself upon reaching the only plausible conclusion that he came up with.

“Yeah, it must be the cooties.” And then wiping his lips one more time, he puffed up his chest with an arrogant scoff before retreating to a different direction.

***

Jaejoong did try to brush it off as an accident, but the thought of having to spend more alone time with Yunho again after what happened was making him uncomfortable. He avoided the guy for the rest of the afternoon, even to the point of putting together a disguise hoping he won't be identified.

He had on dark sunglasses from the kid with the large forehead, a red baseball cap he borrowed from that one with a rather large butt, and a black hoodie from the kid he met in the library whom he had to bribe with free lunch. He ignored the weird looks they gave him, all that mattered was getting through the day without bumping into Yunho.

He darted a quick look down the hallway to check for any signs of a tall, pug-faced human. And with just his head poking out behind the large marble beam, he was happy to note that other from a couple of students, there was no Yunho in sight. He grinned to himself, jumping out of his hiding thankful that he didn’t have to deal--

“Why are you dressed like that?”

“Wha…!” Jaejoong shrieked in surprise, stretching his arms in a karate-chop motion.

Yunho stared at him in false interest. “Oh look at that, he knows Kung Fu.”

“You scared me! Where the hell did you come from?”

Yunho raised his hands in mock surrender. “Now take it easy,” he said. The corners of his mouth quirked upwards. “Put those iron fists away before you hurt someone.”

Jaejoong hated to be treated with condescension, so with eyes turning into slits, he  seized hold of Yunho by the collar. “I could take you with one blow, you long-legged freak.”

“Really?” Yunho whistled. “That’s some serious talent.” He leaned closer with a suggestive leer shadowing his lips. “So no foreplay, you just get right to it?”

Jaejoong flinched back and felt himself recoil at the dirty thought.

“That’s not what I meant, you moron.” His nose crinkled in disgust. “GROSS. Why am I even talking to you?” he pushed Yunho aside and sauntered down the hall.

“Wait up.” Yunho jogged after him with a laugh. “Why are you so grumpy? I was kidding.”

Jaejoong ignored his presence. However, instead of scaring him away like he’d hoped, Yunho merely walked alongside him like it didn’t bother him at all.

Jaejoong couldn’t stand it. He gave Yunho an exasperated look. “Why are you following me?”

“Aren’t you a presumptuous little thing?” Yunho chuckled. “I thought we agreed to meet after class? besides, wasn’t that the reason you were hiding from me in the first place?”

Jaejoong forced a laugh knowing he got caught. Like a poor bunny in the headlights, he stumbled over his words trying to worm his way out.

“I was NOT!” he squeaked, unable to hide the panic in his voice. He cleared his throat. “Just to make myself clear, I wasn’t… hiding from anyone.”

Yunho simply gave a suppressed grin noticeably unconvinced. “Alright. So are you going to tell me what’s with the outfit?”

“I’m auditioning for a spy movie.” Jaejoong blurted out, straight-faced.

“I wouldn’t have guessed.” Yunho hummed in amusement. “But you do realize, Mr. Bond…” he took a final once over of Jaejoong's clothes, “…being incognito means blending in, not look like a walking neon sign.”

“You don’t have to tell me that…” but  Jaejoong knew someone had to. “I’m not stupid!” Admittedly, in that moment, he was. He sneakily observed the people around him in boring uniforms. Yunho did have a point but he was not going to say that to his face so he could gloat about it.

“Hmn.” Yunho responded noncommittally. “Now shall we go ahead?”

He narrowed his eyes at him suspiciously. “Go where?”

“I couldn't grab what I needed earlier in the library, so it’s going to take a lot of work.”

Jaejoong was confused.

“You’re coming home with me. We have to pull an all-nighter for the project.”

“Home?” Jaejoong paused abruptly, not sure if he heard him right.

“Yes. I have some text books at my place that we could use--”

“Like to your nest? with you?” He repeated, suddenly engulfed with feelings of discomfort. “Um, no. I can’t go.”

Yunho stared at him for a brief second looking as if he was mulling over possible alternative options. Finally, he agreed with a simple shrug as a response.

“Okay. If you’re sure about it,” he casually walked past Jaejoong saying, “Suit yourself then, Kim.”

“Okay?” Jaejoong repeated, stunned. “But uh, you’re still going to submit the paper with my name on it, right?” he added, sounding hopeful.

Yunho turned to look at him. “Yeah, sure.”

Jaejoong was skeptical noticing a streak of malevolence in Yunho’s eyes. “You’re not going to tell on me?”

Yunho’s mouth broadened into a sly smile. “As a matter of fact, I still plan on listing your name on the paper for consolation."

"Really?" Jaejoong's eyes brightened.

“Let me remind you though. I might be a generous person… but I don't lie. So if Songsaengnim questions me whether you contributed or not, let's say I might accidentally... let it slip that I’ve had absolutely zero help from you.”

He grinned, tapping his chin with a finger. “How about it? sounds fair, right?”

Jaejoong’s eyes twitched. What a scheming toad. He cursed him under his breath. “I should turn you into a frog.”

Yunho's smile widened as he walked ahead. "And I suspect it'll take a kiss from you to turn me back?"

"Fuck off."

“Good, it’s settled then.”

Jaejoong was rooted to the spot visibly fuming on the inside. And it only angered him even more to see Yunho donning a rather satisfied expression, whistling away as he counted his steps fully expecting him to follow. He tried to keep his temper under control. But seeing that he had no choice, he began to walk, shoving Yunho to the side once he’d caught up with him.

“I see you’ve changed your mind,” Yunho mused. That smug grin on his face though was enough to irritate Jaejoong further and blindsided him with a rough elbow in the gut.

“Ahww!” Yunho wheezed, doubling over. “Hey, that’s foul play!”

“Oh, I’m soo… sorry.” Jaejoong said in fake concern.

“I think I broke a rib,” Yunho said holding his stomach dramatically. “Come on, a little help.”

“What a wuss.” Jaejoong muttered. He helped Yunho up to his feet anyway, although instead of standing on his own, he was stunned in the casual way Yunho slid an arm over his shoulder for support.

It took Jaejoong a few seconds to react, blinking comically seeing Yunho’s face close to his. Once he had his wits back, he pushed Yunho away in alarm, flipping him the finger as he stormed off.

He didn’t have to look back to know Yunho was faking it for he could hear contagious laughter closely from behind. And hearing that, Jaejoong cracked a discreet smile… secretly resisting the urge to laugh along with him.
