Summary: Jaejoong is set on capturing the heart of Eri. Except in order to do that, he has to win against the charming Jung Yunho who is also actively pursuing her. Now hoping to get an edge over his rival, Jaejoong sabotages the man’s every attempt to woo the girl he likes. But just when he thought everything was going according to plan, an accident happens that somehow, by twist of fate, directs Yunho’s charm and unbidden attention towards him.
Jaejoong was hiding behind the bushes as he looked on irritatedly while waiting for Eri to show up, but as the minutes grew longer it seemed Yunho was being stood up. Well that or Yunho lied to make him jealous and he stupidly fell for it. The corner of his lips twitched into an evil snarl.
Snap.
Yunho was opening a can of soda when its content splashed on his face, getting into his eyes and up his nose. He could hear the other's horrified scream and nonstop cursing.
Jaejoong cackled, rolling on the grass as he laughed and laughed until his throat hurt. He stopped when he heard a bark from behind. He turned uneasily and a huge siberian husky was running towards him. Jaejoong yelped, running out of hiding and then tripping on his own feet. His face smacked onto the dirt, shrieking as he wiped away traces of mud from his face.
"Well, well... why am I not surprised? Can't find yourself a date so you decided to stalk me instead?"
“Don’t flatter yourself.” Jaejoong looked up to find Yunho towering in front of his huddled form. “I was just walking around to get some fresh airrr!” Jaejoong shrieked out the last word when he heard a low snarl coming from the bushes. He quickly got up hiding behind Yunho and pointed at the dog closing in on them.
“There! that thing is trying to kill me!"
“Oh, this is Taepoongie." Yunho grinned, reaching forward to pat the dog's head and talking to it in a cooing manner. "What's wrong girl? did his face scare you?"
“You evil person! you sent her out to kill me, did you?” Jaejoong garbled out menacingly.
“I didn’t even know you were here,” Yunho reasoned with raised eyebrows. “It’s normal for dogs to be vigilant around suspicious-looking strangers, you know.”
Jaejoong scoffed. “I bet even the most domesticated dogs would turn barbaric if they had you for an owner. That ugliness alone is a form of torture and having to see that face everyday would probably drive them crazy.”
“You see me all the time but I’m still here left wondering why they haven’t thrown you into a mental asylum yet? and If it’s any consolation,” Yunho hummed in thought. “I’m sure you’d look great in a straightjacket,” he grinned.
Jaejoong was going to pounce at Yunho but his aggressive stance must have alerted the dog whom immediately bared her teeth in defence of her master.
Jaejoong jerked back in surprise. "WHAT IS THAT DOG'S PROBLEM?"
“Well,” Yunho regarded him in amusement for a while. "I know she gets along with most people, but she must be confused with you,” he chuckled.
Jaejoong looked confused himself, so Yunho leaned closer with a small grin. “Maybe if you show her your small pee-pee she'd know you're a guy? because Taepoongie doesn't like girls very much."
"I'm going to kill you." Jaejoong advanced but the rabid dog was growling and barking at him. He took a step back and then with a glare, he said, “Stop hiding under your dog’s tutu skirt and face me like a real man!"
Yunho tapped his chin and then with a small smile, he asked, “How about a peace offering? You look like you could use a drink. Besides, I do owe you one, right? so how about a smoothie? any particular drink you’d like--”
Jaejoong made an impatient grunt and started to leave. When Yunho remained rooted on the ground, Jaejoong shot him a look.
"What the hell are you standing there for? get me a strawberry drink!" he demanded before stomping away, leaving Yunho with a sense of complete bafflement.
It took Yunho a few seconds to recover before moving to follow with Taepoong in tow, shrugging it off as part of Jaejoong's erratic behavior.
"Strawberry it is."

Jaejoong slurped his fruit juice in frustration as they walked along the quiet park together. "I mean I don't get it!" he complained, his free hand gesturing wildly before shifting his wide eyes at Yunho. "What doesn't she see in me? I'm smart, witty..." he paused, nose scrunching up as his eyes raked over the other's face which he thought was abnormally small, "And most definitely far more good looking than you'll ever be. I swear you look like my sister's little pug."
Yunho choked a laugh. "Keep telling yourself that. I'm obviously more capable and better at everything. You're just a guy with the pretty face.”
Jaejoong mentally shot laser beams and daggers at Yunho's forehead. His patience was running thin.
“I'm about this close,” he said, while pinching his thumb and index finger together, “to poking you in the eye. And stop calling me pretty!"
They continued to banter over who outdid the other until they reached a turn leading to the park's exit.
"I'm heading this way." Yunho pointed at the opposite direction, ready to head home.
"But I'm not done talking!"
Yunho paused. “Okay. You see that lonely tree over there?”
Jaejoong followed Yunho’s line of sight and then tilted his head in question. “Yeah, why?”
“Go talk to it and make yourself happy. Now I still have homework to finish so--what do you think you’re doing?" Yunho jerked back when Jaejoong reached for his back pocket.
"Give me your phone."
"Why would I--“ his protest was ignored.
Jaejoong began to input his own number until a pop song blared from his front pocket. Without another word, he fished out his white Samsung S5 and answered the call before shoving Yunho's phone back to his open palm.
"Why am I calling you?" Yunho asked dumbly.
"I've wasted time listening to you talk. It's only fair you do the same." Jaejoong said in a matter of fact tone like Yunho should have realized that already. He was about to turn and leave, but halted halfway upon seeing Yunho just standing there looking mutely at his phone then at him.
Jaejoong stared right back with a deadpan expression. "You can go away now."
"This is stupid. I'm hanging up." He heard Yunho mutter under his breath but Jaejoong was quick to remind him.
"Don't even think of ending the call or I'll follow you home and talk your ear off."
“Unbelievable. I don’t know why I’m even putting up with this.” Yunho continued mumbling something incoherent as he walked away.
When Yunho was finally out of sight, Jaejoong pressed the phone to his ear and continued where they left off as if it was nothing unusual.
"I heard that. Don't make me run after you and kick your ass! No, stop talking. Anyway, as I was saying, I told you I could beat you at anything! okay, maybe not dancing, but--“
It continued on until midnight. Yunho only dropped the call when he belatedly remembered it was his phone bill that was going to suffer.

"I can't find Eri." Jaejoong complained, dropping his bag on the floor. He sat himself beside Yunho and asked, "Do you happen to know where she is?"
Yunho looked up from his lunch tray, forgetting that they were, for a reason, on talking terms now albeit less civilized than normal conversations go. "I don't know. Why are you asking me?"
Jaejoong paused, mulling over his response. "Because I know you spend most of your time stalking her around?"
Yunho swallowed his last piece of kimbap. "Get your facts straight. You're the one who follows us around."
Jaejoong chose to ignore that rvomment. "So? Aren't you gonna tell me where she is?"
"Alright." Yunho got up taking his lunch tray with him. Jaejoong did as well and eagerly followed Yunho to the trash bin where he dumped his leftovers into.
"I'll take you to her," he said, putting away his tray on a dirty stack.
Jaejoong blocked Yunho's way, poking his shoulder angrily. "Or you can just tell me where she is and I'll go to her myself?"
“The thing is," Yunho grabbed Jaejoong's finger that was pressing into his shoulder and then yanked forward so Jaejoong was standing on tippy-toes. With only inches apart between them, Jaejoong had to bite his lip in discomfort upon finding himself looking straight into a pair of piercing brown eyes.
"I don't trust you alone with her," Yunho simply said, his breath fanning against Jaejoong's lips. “Either I go with you or you don’t go at all.”
Jaejoong opened his mouth to respond but shut it in stunned silence barely moving as Yunho straightened himself up and made his way out of the cafeteria. He stood there frozen for another split second. He blinked, then patting his enflamed cheeks, yelled after Yunho to wait up.

A week later, Jaejoong was met with another situation that led him to believe a higher power was at work.
“God must be punishing me.” He mumbled, burying his face in his palms. “Of all people…” he straightened his back turning to his new lab partner in depression. “Why did I have to be paired up with you?"
Yunho snorted, rifling through his notes before putting them back into his bag. “It’s not like I had a say in this. But as much as I despise working with you, I’ll tolerate the idea than receive a failing mark,” Yunho said getting off the seating stool. “Your brain better keep up or I’ll kick you out of this project.”
“Oh please. I’m way smarter than you. I’ll be the one dropping you if you don’t keep up.” Jaejoong stuck his tongue out. “See, I don’t even know how is this is going to work. We’re already fighti--where are you off to?”
“Library.”
“It’s not due until Wednesday. Can’t we do the paper tomorrow?”
Yunho stopped walking and looked at him as if he was daft. “Tomorrow is Wednesday.”
“Right. Yeah… what you said.” Jaejoong muttered following Yunho without contest.
Upon reaching the remote corner of the library, Jaejoong halted mid-step and grabbed Yunho’s arm.
“Wait, we can't be here.” He shot him an accusatory glare. “Are you trying to get us expelled? this is a restricted section.”
“It’s fine. I was given permission by Kang sonsaengnim.”
“Well, well… someone’s playing favourites.” Jaejoong whistled. “I bet she likes you,” he grinned. “You know, you should give up on Eri and pursue her instead.”
“She’s like 60.”
“So? what does it matter? She likes you, she’s old… you look old--”
“Stop being disgusting. She’s the same age as my grandmo--” Yunho placed a finger to his lips when a series of footsteps approaching resounded through the quiet hall.
“What's wrong? I thought you’re allowed in here?” Jaejoong panicked.
“Yes, but it doesn't mean everyone else has to know. It would put Mrs. Kang's job in jeopardy. That, and we might get expelled.”
“What?! I knew I shouldn’t have gone here with you.” Jaejoong hissed. “Principal Choi hates me and if he finds out--mmpht!”
Yunho clamped a hand over his mouth.
The footsteps got closer so they made a mad dash to the furthest wing of the library and squeezed themselves into a small space behind a large wooden shelf. Yunho was towering over Jaejoong, body pressed to his front with both hands braced flat on each side of his head.
“Quiet down. I didn’t ask you to come, did I?” Yunho whispered.
“So you could do all the work and rub it in my face?” Jaejoong shot him a disbelieving look. “You should know that if we get caught,” he whispered back in an equally hushed tone and added threateningly, “I’ll cut your dick off and stick it in a meat grinder!”
Yunho’s lips curved, a sound of a soft chortle escaping him. “Then I’ll have to make sure that doesn’t happen, but thanks for the heads up.”
“I’m not joking! If this stupidity of yours--”
“Someone’s coming. Keep it down.”
“--gets me expelled I swear to--“
“Stop wriggling!” Yunho held him still.
“Well you’re too close it irritates me.“ Jaejoong shifted, peeking through the small gap. “Shit, they're here. This is not good!”
Jaejoong swiftly turned back in position at the same time Yunho moved even closer hoping to effectively hide himself from view... never considering that in an unprecedented moment, a small change in positioning would lead their mouths to meet halfway. Completely stunned, the words have stopped pouring out of Jaejoong's mouth as he stared back into Yunho’s equally startled eyes. How the situation came to be, it barely registered but the feel of softness pressing against his lips was unmistakable and only then his eyes began to widen when it fully dawned on him that holy freakin’ shit he was kissing Yunho.
