"Hey Skarmory! What do you think?" Lash called out, waving at him.

"A Skarmory?" Charlise looked over and around Lash and spotted the other.

"That's a pretty short Skarmory."

Clover crawled on all fours and looked around Lash to see who she was talking to. She smiled and waved to the newcomer. "Say, Jack, how's it go?"

Oh, the ladies were talking to him! They looked like friends of Mommy. But they didn't look familiar. He practically ran over to them.

"Um! Hello! I'm good! How are you?"

He turned to Lash.

"Are they new friends, Mommy?"

She should have expected to be called that, but for a few seconds Lash had this strange look on her face before speaking.

"That's Skarmory," she explained to the others. "I raised him since he was born."

"Mommy...?"

What? What was this? Okay so the twerp was kind of cute, but if he was calling her trainer mommy, that meant they had a strong bond... A bond that she would have to get in between if she wanted to be the favorite.

That bond can't be easily broken, Kitty. If...it can be broken at all. At least that was what Skarmory might say if he had any clue at all about that sort of thing and knew Kitty wanted to have more of Lash's attention than him.

"Hi lady!" Skarmory said. He didn't see them become human even though he went with Lash to Unova. Maybe someone needs to give him a hint.

"Whatcha all doing? Are you doing girl things?"

"Wouldn't particular say that, little cat," she said, plopping down on the floor. "Meet and greet with our new trainer, Chick." Clover jerked a thumb in Lash's direction. "You copy?"

"...New trainer?"

Can you see those eyes? They lit up like light bulbs. Big, bright, light bulbs.

"Does that mean...we're gonna be training together??"

Silly Kitty, Lash had no favorites.

"Yeah!" Lash replied happily. She turned towards the other two girls. "He'll need a lot of training, honestly, considering he's still pretty young."

"So he's jus' extra baggage on the team huh?" Kitty frowned for a long moment, eying the little brat with a cold glare...

But why was his goofy grin so... endearing? Kitty's face softened and she sighed, almost smiling.

"S'long as you put in the time and effort, I don't mind the kid at all."

How adorable was Skarmory? Unbelievably so. He reminded her of all those little 'fro-haired bouffalant calves who she spent so much time watching over all the time. There was no way she could not smile back.

Clover leaned forward on her knees and ruffled Skarmory's hair. "Positive, little cat. Already looking forward to it."
