Lyra was a trainer to her very core. She had come to FDC for a mission, but there was no way she could go to a new area without seeing what kind of Pokemon happened to be living in the tall grass. Maybe a nice Furret or two. Maybe even something that she'd never seen before in her life.
She usually kept her blatant Pikachu knockoff Togetic out with her, but this time, she opted for Vicky. The Meganium would appreciate being able to spend time in a green place, after all. It was a little early for a lot of things to be blooming, but it was still better than nothing.

Almost instantly, the Ivysaur couldn't help but be drawn to the sweet scent of the Meganium. There was something comforting about it, evoking old memories that hadn't been brought to the surface in years - his father's fragrance, huddling under his expansive leaves in the rain, sneaking to watch the evolution ceremonies.
To see such a powerful Grass Type be shackled to a trainer's whims... the taste was bitter. He'd tail the two of them. See what their intentions were. The Ivysaur was still recovering, so he knew that in a proper fight there'd be no way to win against the Meganium.

Perhaps if they'd been in the forest on some other task, they wouldn't have noticed the pizzicato tiptoeing of a pesky Ivysaur. Given that wild Pokemon were exactly what Lyra and her planty companion were after, though, it wasn't long before one of them caught on.
Maybe it was just a Meganium's connection to nature alerting it to a damaged plant, maybe it just caught a lucky flash of pink in the corner of its eye or the hint of a scent that wasn't its own. Whatever it was, Vicky came to a stop, turning around to direct a stare toward their leafy green stalker.
Lyra echoed the movement, peering around at the trees cluelessly. "What's up, Vicky? You see something?"

Vicky didn't say anything either, though the Meganium stood up a little straighter. There was nothing challenging in its eyes, though there was an unmistakable glimmer of pride. This wild Pokemon was welcome to live life however it pleased, and if it looked down on Vicky for walking with a human, well... that was fine too. But he had never once regretted the choices he'd made. He followed this human out of love.
He looked over to Lyra, who simply shot her Pokemon a puzzled look. She couldn't see anything but plants! Shrugging, she opted for the next best thing: calling obliviously to the Mystery Thing. "Hello...? Come out, Mr. Pokemon! Or... Ms. Pokemon. ...Or not a Pokemon at all. Are you sure there's something here, Vic?"
Vicky let out a bleat in response. Yes, there was something there, but he wasn't going to say exactly where just yet, because wouldn't it rather decide for itself whether to come out or run away?

Still, limps didn't make for the sneakiest saur.
