For a while there, Bulba had thought he had been in the clear. Things had carried on just as they always had, and that was fine with him. Of course it was fine with him. Sure, telling Kirby how he had felt hadn't really gone the way he had planned but... But what? He wasn't sure what he had been expecting. Had he even had a plan? Bulba's heart still raced when he thought about it and what could have happened, both good and bad. He was still pretty happy with how things went, all things considered, because things could have gone a lot worse. Kirby could have thought Bulba was super weird. Maybe gays were gross. Things could have gotten really awkward and Kirby might have started to avoid him ( ... )

Kirby had just finished a plate out of five or so plates completely piled with food when he happened to look up to see Bulba standing in the distance with a carrot in his mouth. Oh...shoot. Kirby tried to make it as natural as possible to reach over to the glass of water to get a sip. Did their eyes meet? It probably did. It would be unnatural for him to leave without saying anything, especially since he was still eating his lunch ( ... )

Well, he didn't seem upset. That was good. But he looked so nervous... That was understandable, he never said his reply yet. Yes, his reply...

How was he supposed to formulate his feelings into words? The only thing he could think of was "I like you too! Lash said we should start dating!" but that felt too lighthearted for this situation. He quietly nibbled on the sandwich on his second plate, not knowing what else to say or do. There was a deafening silence in the air surrounding the two... When he was halfway through the sandwich Kirby decided he should say something.

"So..."

At a loss for what to do, Bulba awkwardly took a seat across the table from him. It was better than standing around drawing attention to them.

"So..."

So what? Bulba rubbed the side of his neck, glancing down the row of tables at nothing in particular. "Listen. Um..."
