Through the various hallways, residents at Smash Academy may have had the pleasure of having a peculiar scent waft into their nostrils that day. A peculiar scent that can only be described a mix between "hot berry mess" and "burnt beyond human recognition".
Should you follow this scent, you may notice a certain red haired boy toiling away over a stove that looked like it was covered in multicolored berrylicious throw-up. For you see, Silver was not the type to exert a lot of patience or self control. If he burned one batch he would spend the next batch whipping the mix around as is said mix was the embodiment of all his hatred.
Another factor not working in his favor was that he had no specialized berries to actually make the poffins with, and had resorting to what berries he could find on campus. Mostly blueberries. These berries were not very good at making poffins with, unfortunately. Something about the process turned them into hot berry vomit instead of delicious pokemon cakes. If they made it to the point of actually becoming a delicious pokemon cake they looked an unhealthy looking shade of black. Unlike Lyra, Silver had no super cool parents who would hold his money for him and then use it to buy an assortment of pokemon berries with.
Nonetheless he was still determined to make them. After all, pokemon liked poffins and he was attempting a real effort this time to be nice to his pokemon. Even if he couldn't feel the love for them yet, and was mostly doing this for the purposes of improving himself as a trainer rather then actually caring for them (not to mention so Blacky wouldn't break up with him), perhaps if he did enough nice things for them he wouldn't have to.
