[After Brendan Finishes Training] puddingtrap November 5 2010, 10:28:37 UTC
This was stupid.

Everything about this past month had been stupid. Everyone in this stupid school thought he was a stupid girl so he went and had a stupid argument with his stupid best friend, meaning he spent the last few stupid weeks sitting alone in his stupid room doing nothing.

So what does he do? He gets a stupid idea and does a stupid thing, resulting in a regular train-wreck of bad decisions, awkward moments, and damaged relationships. Good grief. What was wrong with him!? He asked that very same question those few weeks back. He asked if something was wrong with him... what answers did he get? Did they even matter anymore? It felt as though he'd already ruined everything ( ... )

"Good job today guys, just relax for a bit before we head inside." Brendan called out to his team, who looked like they needed a good night's rest. He had just finished his training and had his team stretch out and take their rest out on the cool grass. He stretched out and decided he should lay out on the grass as well, but that was when he heard a familiar voice. He looked over to see Mikapii standing there, in boys' clothes, what was this madness. For a moment, he froze in place, unsure of what to say to the other after having that huge argument over on the network a few weeks ago.

"...Uh... Hey." He replied, casting his gaze away from Mikapii and down at the grass, scratching the back of his head. The person he thought was the best female friend he could get at school...was a guy. That alone made it very confusing of how to act and what to say. Not only that, there was that incident with ~*~Alejandro~*~ on Halloween--no, he shouldn't think about that right now, even if the effects had worn off a day after that.

Somehow, as soon as he saw Brendan, he regretted coming here. What if Brendan had already gotten on with his life? What if Brendan didn't even want to be his friend anymore? What if he, too, though Mikapii was just some kind of freak...!?

He probably would think that if he knew about Halloween.

Calm down. He couldn't think about all that right now. He came here to apologize, and that what he was going to do! Of course, it's only at this point that he realizes he's been standing there, silently staring, for at least a good few minutes. He had to say it. he just had to say and get it over with and stop bothering Brendan like this-

"I'm sorry!" The words leave his lips and he quickly turns away, his arms shaking ever so slightly on either side of him.

Brendan sure wasn't expecting that to come from the other. He looked over at Mikapii in surprise, his face looking a little too dumbfounded and stupid-looking. Wasn't he the one who should have apologized, since he was so dense in realizing something so important about Mikapii, and saying such inconsiderate things to him?

"Uh..." He paused for a moment, sorting out his thoughts.

"...Don't worry about it. I should be the one apologizing anyways." He replied with a small, awkward smile. "What you said were pretty much true, I'm not so much of a great trainer."

That was exactly why he started up on his training, though. To get better both as a trainer and as a person, and most importantly, a better friend.

"I said some inconsiderate things over on the network. I'm sorry about that." A laugh. "But it was pretty surprising to hear that you are actually a guy."

That last part probably didn't need to be said. Way to break the mood.

What.

What.

Why was he being so nice? After those mean things Mikapii said to him? After just a simple misunderstanding? Brendan was a great trainer. What Mikapii said wasn't true, it wasn't, it was just mean, mean, mean...!

But why was he being so nice? No, why did Mikapii expect him to be different? Brendan was a good friend. A really good friend. And Mikapii had no idea how he'd been able to make it this long without apologizing, without even trying to talk things over with him.

Somehow, the niceness hurt. Not even that crack in the end was enough to counteract it. He wanted Brendan to yell at him, to tell him he was rude, to tell him he was inconsiderate and a jerk and deceitful and a whole list of other horrible things. He had gotten away with something horrible just a few days ago, and had even deceived Brendan. Brendan wouldn't be this nice if he knew. No, not even Brendan... and he was too scared to try.

Is that what he was really apologizing for? He didn't know. That wasn't the sort of thing anyone could just apologize ( ... )

At first Brendan was worried that he might have said something wrong. And then when he saw the first tear fall from the other's eyes, he panicked.

"Wait, did I say something wrong?!" He thought over of what he said, hand to his chin, and began talking to himself. "No I didn't...Maybe that gender thing didn't need to be said, but..."--No, it wasn't the time to get into thinking mode. Linoone and Swellow was actually being in sync with each other and looking at him like he was the most horrible person on the planet for making someone cry. What a time to not fight with each other!

"I-I'm sorry if I said something wrong! So don't cry, alright?" He would have felt a little better if he knew exactly what made his friend start crying, as messed up as it sounded... He waved his arms around unsure what to do.

The second Brendan told him not to cry, suddenly, it was as if he couldn't stop. He let out a small sob and dropped his face into his hands, shoulders shaking as he wept. It wasn't Brendan's fault, Brendan wasn't the reason he was crying. He was so angry at himself and he was sad that he made so many other people angry ( ... )

O-oh boy... He probably made the situation worse, didn't he? He couldn't help but frown at the sight. Without knowing what else to do, Brendan pulled the other into a light and slightly awkward hug, giving a light pat on Mikapii's head in attempt to give some comfort.

"There's nothing to worry." He said, not knowing what else to say at the moment. He vaguely remembered his mother comforting him as a little kid like this, when he had broken one of his father's lab equipments and ran to his mother crying. Didn't she let him cry out his tears before doing anything else...?

So he did just that; he held Mikapii close to him as the other continued to sob.

Mikapii hadn't expected the hug, and his first instinct was to try and pull away. But when Brendan spoke, Mikapii felt a small part of him calm down. Maybe... maybe there was nothing to worry about? If he never told anyone, it'd be like it never happened, right? Sure, he'd have to deal with the guilt, but even guilt subsides eventually. It would take awhile, but he'd get over this. Who knows, maybe someday he'll come clean about all of this and they'll share a good laugh!

Or their friendship will be shattered beyond repair.

The hug may have started out light, but it doesn't take long for Mikapii to cling to the other boy, burying his face in his chest as he sobbed. It takes him a few minutes of this until the sobs quiet down into occasional whimpers. And eventually, Mikapii pulls away. His eyes are red and he's definitely all cried out by now.

"...'m sorry. Tha' was stupid..."

"Don't worry about it." Brendan replied with a smile as he let go from the hug. He was glad that he had some experience through being an older brother; if he hadn't had a younger brother to take care of (sometimes), he probably would have ran off and be more of a jerk than he wanted to. Of course, this was from not knowing exactly why Mikapii had broken down into tears. If he found out right then and there, he may have taken the "jerk" route and left the other alone.

"There are times where you just need to cry it out, you know? It happens to everyone." He hadn't had any breakdown incident after his younger brother was born, though. He hoped there wouldn't be a time where he'd cry his eyes out, though. And then he jinxed himself.
