"Come in!" He called, figuring it was Selene. Raikov had everything set up on the counter, and it mostly just looked like vegetables. Surely Selene wouldn't be able to mess this recipe up...

Selene took initiative and peeked the door open, looking inside before taking a step in. She approached Raikov, taking note of the ingredients on the counter. That was a lot of veggies. She really wasn't into them, but this was only tutoring. She'd only have to taste test the dish a little bit after it was done, right?

Here was hoping it would even turn out right.

"Ah, hello~ So I suppose this must be for some form of soup?" She assumed.

"Botvinya," he replied, "Since the fish needs to be boiled, we'll do that first." Thankfully, Raikov had already taken the liberty to cut up the pieces of fish, so all she had to do was boil them. "While we're waiting for them to boil, we can cut up the vegetables."

"Oh, but of course," she spoke, as if this all made sense to her. It... kind of did, but she had no idea what was with the name 'botvinya'. A foreign dish, perhaps. Selene gathered the fish and placed them in a pan. She then filled it with some water- perhaps not enough.

Then she realized that she had a dilemma on her hands. Already.

"... What temperature must I boil this water at?"

She was not even sure what temperature to boil water at. Seriously. Last time she heated liquid in a pan without instruction, it didn't end too well.

"Just turn on the stove and wait until the water bubbles a bit. Then turn it down to a slightly lower heat." He glanced over. "Also, add a bit more water."

"Ah, of course," she said, heading right for the sink and pouring in some more water. Afterward, Selene ran back to the stove, flipped it on to a really high temperature (the faster the better, right?), and then stuck the pan on there.

Well, that was kind of easy! "I think I have done it correctly~ Now how shall we cut the vegetables?" Were there certain ways to cut them? Did some of them need skin removed? Those were questions she didn't know the answers to. She'd have to find out.

Raikov glanced over at the stove. "Turn the heat down. It's better to cook things slowly than to try and speed things up."

And here is what made things so much more easier. Raikov brought out a blender. "Unless you want to do it the old fasioned way where you rub the vegetables through a sieve, this way basically has the same effect."

"Truly? Speeding up the process would hurt the food?" Selene couldn't understand why, but then again, she had little experience. Raikov probably knew his stuff. "Well, surely you are right~" She reached over for the knob and turned it down to a more stable temperature. Much better ( ... )

Well, the veggies were meant to basically be mush so, for once, she was on the right track. When Raikov deemed them ready, he held out his hand and said "Stop. That looks good enough."

He got out a large pot and put it on the stove. "Go ahead and pour them into this pot. I think the fish need a little more so we can go ahead and mix in the rest of the ingredients. In the fridge is some mustard, garlic powder, kvass, and some horseradish. Get those."

Selene? On the right track? ZANINESS.

The fairy lifted the blending container from its pedestal and dumped the vegetables into the pot. Now Raikov requested ingredients from her. Mustard and garlic powder were familiar to her, as they seemed to be very common ingredients that people used. Horseradish sounded... new to her, though, and kvass sounded especially so. That was strange.

"Ah, alright. What is this 'kvass'? And 'horseradish'?" Selene asked as she shuffled through the fridge. She took out the ingredients one-by-one, placing them on the nearby counter.
