Good afternoon, everybody! I'm sorry I was late starting on the class. I'm a mess, I admit. But that is not the point!
Starting today, I'm gonna be your Smash Fundamentals teacher, so get used to it! *here she shuffles awkwardly.*
In this class, I'm gonna be going over the basics of fighting. For you advanced students, if we're covering something you already know, you're free to pick a partner and go spar in the back during the lecture. I think the best way to learn the more advanced advanced techniques and mind games will be to learn it from yourselves and your opponents in action anyway!
For everyone else, the first half of class will be a lecture on the basics, then the second half will be sandbag practice, or sparring with a partner. A consenting partner, I mean. I don't want to see anything dirty or ganging up on anybody.
SO! Lecture time. Basic attacks!
A basic attack should be basically the first thing that comes to mind when you want to attack in a specific direction. Most people remember four basic attacks: A general quick attack for your immediate area, and one each for attacking upward, downward and forward.
These attacks serve as your primary attacks which focus on hitting quickly, rather than hitting hard, much like punches in other martial arts, although being Smash, you're allowed to carry some weapons with you onstage, which can serve the purpose just as well as your fists.
*She takes the nearest sandbag and introduces it.*
This is Bolsa de Arena, visiting us from Spain!
*This is where she demonstrates each of her own basic attacks, calling each one out as she uses it in turn.*
And those are my basic attacks. You should be able to find yours without even thinking about it.
Alright, everybody choose a sandbag and try it out!
