[Oh hai Louie, how do you feel about all the different flavors of apples cut into slices and piled into a gigantic mound, because that's exactly what Lash did. It's ...just a pile of apples.]
I love classes where I can use my senseless violence in more peaceful ways.

*Louie blinks, and with a slow, little nod, takes a few apple slices and bites into them.*
Hmm... well... the execution is nice for slicing the apples and you chose very fresh ones... and your timing was wonderful. Though... the presentation could be better than just a mound of apples. And you... didn't cook them. I was looking for the apples being cooked or at least mixed with something...
You get ... you get a C-, Lash. Perhaps you could cook the food next time? Th-That's the whole point...

*Oh boy, she puts the knife on top of the wooden board and takes out a ray from her hair.*
Um...let's see....
*She throws some of the ingredients other people have left on their tables...in this case, some of the cinnamon Bob had on her table, and brown sugar, and dumps them on the apple.*
This should take a few seconds.
*Zap! The heat from the ray melts the sugar and cooks the remaining apples slices...one of them explodes, but you can't be always perfect and the plate is now pretty piping hot.*

*Well, THAT at least looked a little better.*
Let's try this now... *he takes some of the apples carefully and munches on them before giving his final verdict*
They taste much better now, and now that you've cooked them, it does affect your score... in a good way. The execution could be better with actual appliances, but a heat ray is ... creative.

*Louie stared, noticing that... he didn't even remove those peels and such. That was gonna take a notch down on his score. Presentation and execution weren't so good, but the timing was nicely done... now... how was the flavor?*
... Hmm... *he took a bite, and... STRUGGLED to get it swallowed.*
I... this... This... isn't very good. The flavor could be much better for apple sauce, and you left the peels and seeds in...
Your timing was alright, though, so... I give this a D.

*Paula's cookies have cooled for a few minutes and are now ready to be eaten. They're a bit lumpy and don't look like professional cookies. But they're soft and warm to the touch.*
Oh, I hope I did alright. *picks a few nicer looking cookies and puts them on a plate, which she then brings to Louie* E-enjoy!
Re: Taste testing, grading, and the works!king_of_bugsMay 5 2009, 01:43:51 UTC
Oh, let's see... *They certainly did smell good. They could look much better, honestly, but they still were acceptable-looking. He takes a bite... and...*
... This is quite good. The execution was just fine, though the presentation could stand to be better. They... do taste great, though, and are very soft.

Oh! Thank you so much!
*tries one of her own cookies* You're right, they are good. Thank goodness!
Do you have any tips or tricks on how to make the presentation better? Or maybe appearance will be one of the topics you cover later. In that case, I can't wait! What's that phrase... um... "you eat with your eyes first" or something? I think that's it...

Oh, well, remembering to remove the lumps in the mix, even before you add dry ingredients, can help... as well as careful kneading of the dough. Even a rolling pin can help just a bit with that.
After you're graded and scored, you are free to take some of the food you have cooked with you... or try each others' foods.

These are just... apples? Did you cook them...?

*she's twirling the huge knife around like a sword*
You don't need to cook sushi.
