(no subject)
So Christmas...
This year, the parents had to make sure the kids were awake.
We were up at 9:30 instead of the usual 7:30.
We dug through our stockings, then opened our presents. I totally got the Christine Lahti movie (Swing Shift) that I thought I was getting and grinned like an idiot.
Did the usual cinnamon rolls for breakfast although we had bacon and eggs too this year.
My brother and I got a few cracks about being Jewish.
Brother: What have Jews done?
Me: They built the pyramids.
Brother: They didn't really have a choice. It's not like they got bored one day... "This is gonna be awesome.. just go with it."
My brother had to go to work and bitched some about it.
Brother: I hate it when people say "I can't believe you're open on Christmas." It's because of people like you!
My dad had sent a mass text to people saying Merry Christmas and he got one back a bit later.
Dad: Of all the people I sent one too... Josh sent one back first.
Brother: That's cute.
Dad: Have fun at work today.
So bro went to work. My dad, mom and I watched some random show about Christmas lights. My parents were checking the chances of snow over and over to see what to do about my grandparents coming over.
Dad: The percentages keep changing. *turns to look out the window* Hey! It's snowing!
(It had literally JUST started snowing so we busted out laughing)
So then my mom napped and my dad switched to football so I went upstairs to pop in I Robot but then my RP buddy got on so we RPed. Then it was time for dinner. My brother and I bitched a little at each other but recovered quickly... thank God. We all ragged on dinner because it was ham and macaroni & cheese and .... wait for it... matzo ball soup. But mom said that's gonna be a new tradition now because we all got such a kick out of it. I secretly dubbed this Christmas "The Kosher Christmas" XD But yeah so I cut up my matzo balls cuz they were really hot and my mom was waiting but mine had already gotten cool enough.
Me: Cut yours open like I did. They cool faster.
Mom: *looks at brother's* He did it too.
Brother: I saw her do it.
Mom: *thinks about it, then notices my dad did it* Oh you did it too!
Dad: I saw him do it.
So then we all had a good laugh.
My family is weird. But we actually made it through a holiday without killing each other. and LOL I got The Outsides, Swing Shift, Independence Day and I Robot for Christmas AND a gift certificate to my favorite store to buy used DVDs. My parents have finally learned that it is best to just let me have my obsessions XD
