As I turn into an old man, it is a sad reality that my LJ will increasingly become a shrine honoring my favorite Bucs as they step away from the game.
On Monday, John Lynch returned to Tampa to announce his retirement from the NFL. I could write a novel about his career and accomplishments, but I don't think that it's neccessary. Punctuality is a thing to admire. So I will just say this. If it wasn't for John Lynch, I doubt I would be a Bucs fan. I would have a different icon, I wouldn't have Warrick Dunn, Chris Simms, and Barrett Ruud jerseys hanging in my closet, or Buccaneer pennants hanging on the wall above this computer. I might even be a Cowboys fan. So, thank you John Lynch for saving me from that cruel fate, being the heartbeat of our Super Bowl team, and for being the best damn safety I ever had the honor to watch play.
Speaking of football, after week 9 when everybody had played 8 games, I wrote a very long, quite in-depth mid-season review, then decided I didn't like it, and consequently didn't post it. But here are just some brief thoughts. The Giants and Titans are clearly the two best teams, but after that it's a mess. That could be your Super Bowl matchup, or you could have anybody from Tampa, Atlanta, Arizona, Washington, NYJ, Pitt, or Baltimore in there. So, lets just see how it goes, eh?
I know some of you would really like some non-football related LJ substance, but here is the problem with that. For the past month my life has consisted of getting up at either noon or 1pm depending on the day of the week, making a 22 minute walk to class (which has been AMAZING b/c the weather has kicked ass), sitting in class for either an hour and 20 minutes or 3 hours, depending on the day, making the 22 minute walk back to my apartment, eating something, watching some tv, then working on stuff for class. Around 1 or 2am I usually start playing some video games until 3 or 4, then go to bed, and repeat. Hard to manage much excitement when that's your itenerary each day. I did stand in line for 11 hours to be able to attend one of the best regular season college football games ever, and all of a sudden I attend a school that controls its own fate as far as getting to the national championship game. Texas Tech University. Who'da thunk it? Not me, that's for damn sure. As soon as anything even a little interesting happens, you'll be the first to know, I promise.
End.
