I'm deeply saddened by the decline of LJ. Of my 40 something friends, 6ish update on regular basis, where as in the olden days missing a couple days of updates on the friends page could make for an entire weekend of great reading. I suppose with myspace now ruling the world my old friend LJ is just slowly falling by the wayside. And...Twitter? What the shit is this nonsense? I mean, I'd heard of it before, but apparently all the cool kids are doing it. I refuse. I will persist with LJ. I am loyal to the products and services I use, and this is no different. I intend on increasing my volume of posts to a more persistent level (10 since the start of February is just sad). And, I encourage you to do the same. For old time's sake.

So, I'm currently in San Angelo (again). I have no idea when I'll be heading back to Lubbock. Hopefully sooner rather than later. It's been nice though. I did have to spend a shit load of time removing some really malicious software from this hard drive. I got it done though, and now it works as good as the day it came out of the box.

Jared, if you're still around these parts I think you might find this interesting. I've decided I'm going to contact the online editor of the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal about doing a sports blog for their web site. They have a few sports related blogs but they cater to a very niche audience. One is for MMA, another is for Tech baseball, one for high school sports...etc. Most troubling, there is NOTHING for NFL, NBA, or NHL. I figure average joe sportsfan who reads the Lubbock paper online would enjoy a more generalized sports blog. Hell, the reason I came across the lack thereof was b/c I wanted to read one from a local source. In a town of 200,000 people whose paper circulates to almost half a million, I'm sure I can't be the only person who has had that thought. So, I'm rounding up all the stuff I've written in here about sports to have an adequate number of writing samples just in case. I hope the guy goes for it, I think it'd be a lot of fun.

It would also be advantageous for you folks who just don't do sports, b/c all sports related issues would be kept there. Anywho, I'll keep you updated on that.

I was looking back through old old entries a few weeks back, and came across my list of best bands. Now, I don't know if I remember exactly what I meant by "best." It could have been "favorite" or "influential" or any number of things. Whatever I meant...this is what I listed:

1.) Incubus
2.) Thrice
3.) Deftones
4.) Thursday
5.) Greenday
6.) Bad Religion
7.) Taking Back Sunday
8.) A.F.I.
9.) Agnostic Front
10.) Dream Theater

That post was made 3 and a half years ago. It's time to update that list...with a more thorough explanation of "best." By best I mean, bands I like who exhibit a sound and/or convey a message that is meaningful and unique. So, it's a little combination of personal preference and creative capability. And without further delay...the new "Best Bands" list:

1.) August Burns Red
2.) As I Lay Dying
3.) Deftones
4.) Hatebreed (Wtf, how were they not on the first one?!?)
5.) Incubus
6.) Chevelle
7.) Jimmy Eat World
8.) The Warriors
9.) It Dies Today
10.) Thrice

Interesting how preferences can change so drastically.

Look in the mirror!!
For now I think I will pass;
Time to hit the gym.

End.
