Woke up with a Charley Horse at 4am, basically because every muscle in my body has been in the flexed position since Tuesday. This week they laid off 10 people in our company. That's 5% and doesn't include any of those offered the retirement package. The layoffs ranged from sales reps, to plant workers, to finance, and customer support, the web, and even a Vice President. It went on all week long. No one knew who was next. Bosses were informed who they were to let go 15 minutes before the act and cubes were cleaned out immediately after. Needless to say, the office was miserable. People felt ill, couldn't concentrate, and didn't want to make eye contact.

One of my best friends, Erin, was let go yesterday. I think that was the hardest for everyone. Her and her husband are both unemployed with a new baby. She is so much fun and enjoyable. She's a great worker and coworker. It was devastating.

I feel like I've been in a car accident, but I have a job. Things are going to be tough though. It's not going to get any easier.
