You know... I've been paying AMTA for a few years now to manage my liability insurance mostly. It's $250 a year and I generally forget about it after I pay it each year in March. This year however, I decided I'm going to use them for all they're worth! My mom suggested I contact them to learn about what I need to do when I move to California as far as licensing & certification goes. I did, and they are going to send me the info I need. Apparently California is going to start doing state certification (thank the gods). Right now they do what Massachusetts used to do, which is have every county and town and city have their own licensing or certification. It got to be really confusing, not to mention expensive if you wanted to work in a few different towns. So as of sometime in the summer, California is going to have state certification which is great news for me! Hopefully I can get it all taken care of by mail or on the internet before I get out there so I can start working asap. :)
