Spanish flu

Oct 08, 2010 00:04

On October 5, 2005, researchers at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New announced that the genetic sequence of the 1918 flu strain had been reconstructed using using historic tissue samples recovered by pathologist Johan Hultin from a female flu victim buried in the Alaskan permafrost and samples preserved from American soldiers.

BUT! a story arc featuring the release of reconstructed Spanish Flu virus was run in Canadian TV show ReGenesis from October of 2004 to January of 2005. Funny, huh?

oh, and Numb3rs totally stole the idea: their episode on Spanish flu was aired on February 4th, 2005.
