My mind is like a spinning top. If not for friction, it would never ever stop. And this week there isn't much friction and there's a whole lot of grease keeping it going.
Or something.
What I'm getting at is that I have a million and 2 things going on, and it's all I can do to keep up physically. Mentally? Never gonna happen.
Last night, I ran in the JP Morgan Chase Corporate Challenge. 3.5 miles right through downtown Boston. It starts on Charles Street, between the Public Garden and the Commons, headed past the Garden to Comm Ave, and went down Comm Ave to Kenmore, then turned around and followed the same path back, except coming around the other side of the Public Garden (up Tremont St), so that the Start/Finish are the same. Considering all the rain that has kept me from training, and my mad shin splints, I was happy with my time of 31 minutes. Just under 9 minute miles.
Also there were 12,000 people to contend with, which meant a lot of slowing down when caught behind people and even coming to a walk once or twice when the course bottlenecked (for instance, in the tunnel under Mass Ave). When there are that many people, you can't be expecting to break any personal records. The most you can hope for is to not trample anyone or get trampled. I enjoyed the whole thing immensely because I was prepared (I ran it 2 years ago) for the mob scene.
Tonight we're celebrating one of our closest friends birthdays. It should be an interesting night, and I doubt I'll be in bed before 3. He's turning 25 and he wants it to be a big deal. I think I'm ready for a big night out, so we should have a blast!
Also also, I'm getting out of work at noon today (yay summer hours!) and as it's a gorgeous sunny day, Kevin and I are going to head up north of Boston to this Audobon wildlife preserve we've read about and do a little hike and get some bird-watching in. Yay!
Without further ado, here's a fun little survey I stole!
