It was Christmas and he just wanted to do something romantic for her.
She was always busy sawing the world and keeping secrets for everybody, and sometime he felt a bit neglected.
He didn’t doubt that she loved him, maybe just not as much as her work and everything that came with that.
So he wanted to ask her out for a romantic Christmas dinner, just the two of them and maybe lay a bit more charm on her and make her forget work just for an evening.
Everything was ready when she called…and cancelled, she got held up at work, could they do that another time, “you know how it is Jimmy, you’re a reporter too”..
Being a good boyfriend he cancelled their dinner reservations and went down to see if he could help her.
They worked the next three hours and then everything was ready and they could go home.
He was walking her home when she asked him why he was moping and he just shrugged and said nothing.
“Jimmy”, she said in that tone that meant, “tell me what is wrong now, or you will be in big trouble mister!”
“I just wanted us to have a romantic evening together”, he said, “with dinner and wine and everything.”
“Well”, Chloe answered, “I am kind of hungry.”
Jimmy rolled his eyes, their reservation have been cancelled hours ago.
He put his hands in his pockets when he felt it, the bag that had been lying there for days.
Smiling he handed her the bag, “Its not dinner”, he said, “but it is edible.”
Chloe looked at the bag, before leaning up and kissing him warmly on the mouth.
“This is the most romantic food I have ever had”, she said before popping four of the red and white heart-shaped fruit jellies into her mouth.
