Austin...Austin, Massachusets

So Italy beat France, and I still didn't get to watch more than 4 minutes of the World Cup, a dissapoitment I'll have to live with till '10, Africa here we come!

Here is one thing I forgot to mention days ago, I saw a crazy lightening storm in Oklehoma, I was hoping for a tornado, no tornado, but mad lightening.

And Tony G, I did not have the spicy chicken, my heart is caught by the love of the original, and now that I know your feelings, I have no doubt about my decesion. And no bat polaroid, I'm sorry.

The party I mentioned yeilded positive results. I got some chicks phone number, from her mom. (the girl wasn't there, but she lives in downtown austin, a good contact if I have some time this evening before Rancid part II. And I also got a contact for Taos, may hit that up. The best part of all came post party. This dude was at this shindig, and was heading into the city for some free music in Waterloo Park. Kind of a weird dude, but free music is free music. And when we got there, we find out that Cut Cemist is spinning. The Cut Cemist from Jurassic 5. I was floored, it was majorly impressive, his turntable antics up there on that stage. Plus, he had a video guy there, editing video clips to the beats of the music. Some great old kung fu action. All in all, a great suprise.

This was followed up by yesterdays advertures in San Antonio. Unique city, great Mexican market, and who can forget the allamo? Though I think if the story is true, then those dudes were idiots for stayin, and San Ananta was rightfully pissed, we were invading his country. Open and shut case, but don't ever repeat that outloud in the state of Texas, they're very touchy about their quasi-heroes. There is a real cool river walk that goes through the city, all these shops and resturants lining a shaded river, I must say it was quite romantic, me and thousands of tourists. I've noticed that my age bracket is absent from most of these places I go, older and younger yes, but where are the young 20-somethings with nothing better to do than explore this crazy shit? Where I say!?!

I came back to Austin for some quality chill time on the deck of my aunt and uncles lakeside abode. And man was it chill, talk about relaxin in the Texan breeze thinkin nothin but lofty waves of wonder at how this mamma bird in front of you is feeding its young. Or slowly passing out in the heat, either way, good times to be had.

It was then time to get my studded belt, lock in those liberty spikes and shout Oi! till my lungs blead...Rancid, live at Emo's, Austin, Tx. Think of the top five bands you want to see before you die. Well seeing Rancid in a small club was one of mine, and I get to see them twice. Why I love Rancid:

-not just straight punk rock, many influences includding reggaee go into their tunes
-of the four members, three of them have an equal number of lead vocal tracks
-what other punk rock band can start their encore with three accoustic songs? No one, and thats why Rancid rock and rolls straight into my dancin feet

There are few punk rock bands that make the grade musically, the clash and rancid being the two that stick out in my mind. Any others?

I realized something very important about punk rock music last night; punk rock is not about revolution, if these guyus really wanted to make change they would do it, not sing about it. What punk rock is really about is having fun, romanticising revolution, and rockin out. There is nothing wrong with this, actually I think it is much needed for any decent person, an outlet to rock. So many punks are deluded into thinking their making a difference, the important thing is that for this one night, you can go to a gig and dance to good tunes with a shit load of other people who also think they are good tunes. Nothin more, nothin less.

Well, its time to go swimming in a lake and have my picture taken in a green cannoe. (thats right, its green!)
Then Rancid part II, and then it's off to Lubbok, Tx for the Buddy Holly Museum, and soon after that, Roswell, New Mexico! Desert, here I come!

Peace love and shants
