Aw, sorry to hear about the rude behavior you had to put up with. Some people just don't know how to behave!
I was at Wizard World Philly this summer with some Pullips and my three MSD-sized dolls, and I got a few "Are those Dollfies?" and one "Is that a Unoa?". (The Pullips got a lot of "Are those Blythe dolls???" comments, with one person asking my husband if they were Living Dead Dolls.) Many people thought we'd made the dolls ourselves and were selling them... I wish!
My favorite was the guy who flung himself at our feet so he could take pictures of the Little Pullips.
Cons are sometimes an excuse for the socially inept to awkwardly commingle and display their inability to interact with others... but I hope you won't let the experience get you down! Hopefully there were some good interactions too, right?

Amen.
(Next con I'm working on a screened tee that says something along the lines of "Fanboys Step Off." Or maybe the more straight-forward "Touch me and die.")
Heh. I haven't had to worry about people touching me.... most of my "augh what's wrong with you people" moments involve people coming up to me and striking up conversations by assuming that I have the same interests and opinions as they do. e.g. G1 was great, Beast Wars sucked, Dinosaur fossils are fake.
Or that one dude who followed us to a party in someone's hotel room, and then it turned out that NOBODY KNEW WHO HE WAS. He had just attached himself to our group like some kind of parasitic fish. And he WOULDN'T LEAVE.
Meanwhile, Swift spent Wizard World Philly being talked at by a possibly crazy old man who wanted directions to the subway station and kept talking about how he lost his feet in 'Nam because God was testing him just like [some dude in the Bible].
There must be some kind of subsonic vibration that attracts the crazies, or brings out the stupid in people.

After the king declined, this would-be bodyguard called the king repeatedly at the king's home phone #, & got incredibly upset when the king didn't return his calls. After all, the king has a responsibility to protect his subjects, & he can't do that if he's dead. This guy *clearly* knew something about a potential attempt on the king's life, & the fact that the king was rejecting his protection was an *obvious* slap in the face

That's usually the reaction I get outside of anime cons. My reaction is pretty much like yours: I wish! ;P

Oh, absolutely! You know how it is, though... the bad and/or weird experiences make for "good TV". ;D
I *am* cutting back on my con participation, but for reasons completely unrelated to dolls... and every time I go to a con in the future, I plan to have a doll with me. ^_^
