Karaoke: Asian Invasion

May 20, 2005 18:28

"It's Asian Invasion night!" says Leslie, Austin's wife. "You're the dark horse, and Mike and Andrew...Asian Invasion tonight you guys!"

Me? Dark horse? (what does that mean?) Thank you, I said humbly, politely. Whut? I sang "The Remedy", by Jason Mraz. All I can remember is that my voice cracked and I apologized, and I tried dancing too. Some figure-8 thing from belly-dancing. Courtney, you might know.

Somebody had shouted "I love you!" while I was singing, and I stopped and said, "Oh yeah??"

I had a shot of Patron and a large bottle of Asahi for courage. Mike bought me another Patron later. I guess the Patron I had at Dave is the same thing after all. I can barely remember. LIME MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE. Mike and Andrew are the quiet reserved type of Korean guys at work so I was amazed and admired them when they belted out songs. I waved my arms at them in support. I wooped as loud as my low voice could allow. I motioned "louder! louder!"

Austin, well, he's the wild party guy, even at work, even as a manager. He sang some song by Motley Crue (don't know them well) and was SUCH a performer it was SO FUNN. And Brad, well, he sang a couple of songs and had a nice rough, guttural voice. I'll be teasing him tomorrow.

I need water.

This crate of Arrowhead water in my room (no I'm not advertising) is such a life savor. When I wake up in the middle of the night, all I need to do is crack open a bottle, chug some, and pass right back out.

Even Lauren Liva, the BSA at work, showed up. But she didn't sing, supposedly, and had to leave early. AWWWW C'MOOOON!!!!

So right after the 2nd shot of Patron, I find out everybody's leaving......Brad's like, sitting there falling asleep, passing out. Kristy's (the girlfriend) pissed because she's a teacher and needs to wake up at 5.

Mike and Andrew stuck around, asking if I'm ok to drive home, and my intrinsic sense told me to wait 10 mins until the Patron hit. I hung out with them for a little bit while they smoked a joint. We were supposed to smoke it at the beach but didn't know how to get there, so they smoked it at the car.

I had grand plans of running along the water in order to sober up. What time does the beach close? Aw c'mon, it's fun running in the wateR!

Oh yeah, I didn't smoke because I have weak lungs, so I sat facing them, talking to them, tilting my head back to breathe in the air outside the open car window. Andrew was spooked by a walker so we moved back to the parking lot.

Mike accompanied home while I drove, I was talking to myself. I noticed I grinned a lot. I also noticed he fell asleep. I noticed the lines were particularly clearer. Maybe if I removed my glasses I would SEE A LOT BETTER??....no, I was disappointed. My senses were heightened! Yet, more sluggish...make sense?

But I am back now, safe and sound, not quite ready to sleep.

So hear I am, sobering up, chugging drinks. Water, Arrowhead, as you well.
The remedy, to my condition, if you will.
