I really want to participate this week, but I'm still quite lost on how this system works. I realize we have three categories: Blank, Image, and Sub-Theme, and you can enter 1, 2, or 3 icons, but no more than 1 from each category. So does that mean you can't use a sub-theme on the blank or the image? (e.x. a gradient on top of either of the given images?) And what qualifies as "fitting the blanket theme" for something like this week? Does it just have to have flowers on it?

I think the rules also said that we can't use other images in conjunction with the blank or the image, so animated graphics for that are out?

;_; Help! I really wanted to participate, but I'm so lost...

My love! <3 I've missed you so....

Anywho! *cough*

You can use the sub-theme on the blank or image if you wish to. It is only a requirement for the sub-theme--anyplace else is optional on your end.

By "fitting the blanket theme," we meant that in addition to the requirement of putting the gradient on your icon, your icon must incorporate the week's theme, which is flowers. So, basically, you have to have flowers AND a gradient for the sub-theme. You wouldn't pick a photograph of Hotaru surrounded by paperclips--you'd pick a picture of her surrounded in flowers. Does that make sense?

And, yes--for the blank and image, you can not animate it UNLESS all clips come from the image you have cropped. Panning, etc. For the sub-theme, you can animate with all the pics you want as long as it meets the flowers/gradient requirements.

Does that help some, my love? <3

*posts with the icon you made just b/c you are so special!*

Okay, let me make sure I have this right.
Category 1 - Blank (may use sub-theme)
Category 2 - Image (may use sub-theme, if not used for #1)
Category 3 - ??? (other image, may use sub-theme if not used for #1 or #2)
All three have to use the blanket theme, "flowers," part of "April Showers Bring May Flowers."

Do I have that right?

Category 1--Blank (may use sub-theme)
Category 2--Image (may use sub-theme, EVEN IF used for #1)
Category 3--Sub-theme [this week is gradient] (MUST use the sub-theme, EVEN IF used for #1 and/or #2)

Blank and Image--must use image provided and no other. Do with it what you will.

Sub-theme--choose your own image as long as it uses the blanket theme [this week flowers].

Does that help a little more?

Also, did you make your icon? It=love!

The thing that confused me was that you can't enter something in more than one category, but if the sub-theme counts as a category, and you use it for 1 &/or 2 &/or 3, then aren't you entering 3 icons in the same category (sub-theme)?

Ohhhh, I see. No, you aren't entering three in one category, b/c...let me think how to put it...

okay.

If I create three icons using the BLANK PIC...that is not good.

If I create three icons using the IMAGE PIC...that is not good.

If I create three icons using MY OWN IMAGE and the sub-theme...that is not good.

If I create ONE icon using the blank, ONE icon using the image, and ONE icon with my own image, that is okay. I have one icon for each category. It doesn't matter if I wanted to apply the extra theme to the blank and image as long as I have one for each category.

How's that? :-)

I think I get it now. But you can be the judge of whether or not I screwed up with any of my entries on this week's post... disqualify them if I didn't get the rules straight or somesuch. I hope I got 'em right, though.
