It's the Most Wonderful Time of the the Year!

Dec 10, 2008 21:55

So why is it that I’ve become so incredibly lazy? I can’t even be bothered to read the required text for my classes. It’s true. I have yet to actually read a book that is required for college. Lmao. However, I can’t even do things I like, such as update my livejournal! Argh! I’m such a failure (and kind of a badass since I don’t read and still get fairly good grades. Just think what my grades would be like if I actually did the work! Lol. Yea… I know, I fail ) Anywho… there are some things to update about but mostly my life hasn’t changed. Just plain… and BORING! This quarter was the WORST EVER! I mean, I hated every single class I was taking this quarter. Actually, that happened with me last autumn quarter. I dunno what it is about Autumn quarter but it’s the pits as far as I’m concerned. Lol.
I really should write more often. I don’t get to say a whole lot throughout the day, whether I’m working or at school, so writing is a very good outlet. So what is there to say? Well, Lets start with what hasn’t changed… Living at home, broke, going to osu…which I HATE… still single and lonely. Lmao. Still working at hallmark (which I really enjoy but don’t make enough money to save very much for Taiwan) still planning to graduate this spring, however I may stay on for summer quarter because I won’t leave for Taiwan until December and going 1st term summer quarter will allow me to stay on my parents insurance longer. Wohoo! Lol. So yup. Still planning to go to Taiwan to teach for at least a year.
So what’s really new with me? Not very much. I’ve hit the 100 mark on course credits! Lol. Actually, now that this quarter is over, I’ve hit 119. Pretty sweet. And next quarter I’ll be taking 30-35 credit hours ( a lot will be online! Awesome!) Don’t really know what my schedule is going to look like yet because at the moment I’m trying to get into a Spanish class that is taught by the coolest Spanish teacher on campus! Sweetness! But if I don’t get into that class, I’ll get going Tuesday/Thursday from 7:30 am to 2:18 pm. So, not bad at all. Lol. I love online classes!
Work is good. I actually got offered a promotion, however, I didn’t know exactly how my school schedule was going to work so I had to turn it down. It sucks, but it would have been a requirement of at least 30 hours a week. I think I may try and get a second job at safelite this next quarter. I need to start really saving up for Taiwan. Yup. Less that a year and I’ll be in Taiwan! How awesome is that??? I mean, sure, there is PLENTY that I’m going to miss and I’m sure I’ll be home sick at times, but I have to do it. It’s just something I’ve wanted to do for so long now, I’ve planned my graduation and my future around it and I just have to do it because it’s going to be awesome! And if it ends up sucking…I’ll pay my way out and go back home. Lol. No one says I have to stay for the whole year if I’m down right miserable. I don’t really see that happening though.
There will be SO much to do! Bamboo forests, coral reefs, surfing, hiking, boating, skiing, you name it and they’ve got it! Plus, I have to fly over to China to hike the Great Wall and I’m going to fly over to Japan and hike Mt. Fuji (and maybe visit Hokkaido, since that’s where I wanted to be stationed if I applied for the Jet program…which I didn’t, in case you were wondering. Lol ) So yes, I’ll be so busy that I really don’t think I’ll have time to get too home sick. Plus! I’ve found several animal shelters I would like to work with while I’m there! (Taiwan’s animal treatment is a bit behind the times, not unlike most Asian countries) Also, I’d like to pick up some Chinese. It would take me forever to write out all the job possibilities for someone who is fluent in Chinese here in America. Lol. So yes, I think Taiwan will be a great experience, I mean, how many people do you know that can say they lived and taught in Taiwan? Lol. It will be one of those things I’ll tell my children about when I’m older. Lol.
Anywho… anything else that is new with me? Not really. I mean, nothing surprising at least. Spike, my fair gold fish is still alive and kicking! He has to be at least 8 inches in length by now. Lol. He has a whole 20 gallon tank all to himself! Lol. And he’s loving it. Sparky, my Betta, is doing well too! I’ve had him since about October, he’s a Meijer purchase. Lol. I have to say, I was a bit worried buying a fish from Meijer, but he’s been awesome! A real trooper. People complain about how hard it is to take care of Bettas… so either Sparky seems to be an exception or people are just failures. Lol. I’ll go with the the latter. Lol. I do know that he’s had trouble with the cold.. But he’s in a half gallon wall bubble and they don’t make heaters for tanks that small. So, I’ll light a candle and put it on my night stand, some what below his tank. That seems to keep him happy J
Wow… a whole paragraph about my fish! Can you see how boring my life is???? I can’t help it though. Between school, work, and my laziness and overall drive to do anything… I don’t have much to say. Lol.
You know what is awesome though? Woodwick candles. We sell them at work, and when they burn they sound like a crackling fire. Well, I’ve had two since last Christmas but never really used them, so one night I got one out and burned while I was reading and I LOVED it! It really does sound like a crackling fire and I just love it! It’s lasted a pretty long time too! So if your in the market for an awesome gift or an awesome candle for yourself, Woodwick candles are your best bet. And they burn SO much better than crappy Yankee candles. They are a bit pricey… but they are well worth it. When I get my 50% off at work, I’m going to be buying like 4 of them! Lol. Especially in Vanilla Latte! It’s one of the best scents available! Lol. Yea, I know, I’m weird.
So yea, this quarter has pretty much really blown. I’ve hated every single class I had. It was to the point where the night before classes, I’d cry because I had to go to school all day. I can’t even tell you how many classes I missed this quarter. It’s just plain sad. I couldn’t help it though. I really really just couldn’t bring myself to go to some classes. I know, it’s pathetic, but that’s the way I get in the fall. they call it seasonal depression. That is why I should just take the fall off from school. Every fall I just end up fucking up my GPA. This quarter got to the point where All I wanted was a D in Spanish to pass and I was going to be happy. Now, I think I’m looking at a little high than that, but still, that’s pretty sad. When you go from getting a 3.7 GPA to praying for a D, you know something is wrong. So yes, hopefully next quarter will be better… it couldn’t be much worse.
Lol. I do have to say that I wrote two very good papers this quarter. Sure, that’s like two out of like 10 but whatever. I really liked how my history paper turned out. Everyone in the class wrote about Genghis Kahn or Confucius. I, however, wrote about Mulan. It was pretty bad ass. Lol. Then this other paper was for my English class and it was about poetry and I don’t know fi you know this but I HATE poetry. To all extremes do I hate it! The only and I mean ONLY exceptions being Edgar Allen Poe and Basho Matsuo (and music, but that doesn’t really count, I mean common, that’s rhyme put to music, it’s different) So anyways, I wrote this paper on Poetry and just went all out BS into total depth about what each little detail meant, etc. I don’t know what grade I actually got but it got me up from a C to a B- so it probably wasn’t to bad. I should be disappointed with the B-, I know, but the problem was that the grades didn’t come from how good the writing or argument was, the grades were all about whether or not the teacher agreed with your interpretation. I mean, HELLO, it’s an interpretation, who knows who is right? And why much every little thing in a story/book/poem have to mean something other than exactly what is being said? I swear, some English people are a little too “deep” for me. Anyways…. Lol.
The Holidays are FINALLY here! We’ve had the lights up since a week before thanksgiving! Lol. But all the other decorations and such still haven’t been done. Luckily, we’re going to go hunting for a Christmas tree this Friday! Yay! Last year we didn’t get to go out because someone was sick, I don’t remember who. Lol. Doesn’t matter, but anyways, we usually go out to this place out in the boonies and take hot chocolate and get all bundled up, hike really far out into the acreage and then find about three awesome trees and then spend about two hours deciding and arguing about which one we should get! I love it! Lol. It’s one of my favorite Christmas traditions. One year we actually got to cut down out Christmas tree by moon light J it was a lot of fun! So yes, the holidays are finally here! So this is my list of things I would like to get to do during the holiday season!
DONE (1) Cut down a Christmas tree, Clay Family style
(well, sort of. we all went together to pick one out at home depot. lol)
2) go to the Zoo’s Winter Wonder Lights
DONE 3) See the Nutcracker
DONE 4) Drink Eggnog
DONE 5) Send out Christmas Cards
DONE 6) Adopt children for Christmas through my Church
(Adopted 7 kids! YAY!)
DONE 7) Decorate the whole house!
DONE 8) Watch A Muppet’s Christmas Carol with my Family
DONE 9) Make Cookies with my Mom
DONE 10) throw a Christmas Party!

So yup, these are all the things I want to do this Holiday Season! Not including all the things I always love to do, like decorate the Christmas tree, watch all the Christmas specials, hang my Harry Potter Stocking :-D Go to my Grandmas for Christmas eve, spend time with friends, wrap lots of gifts! ( I love wrapping gifts!) gossip about my annoying family members, you know, the usual stuff! Lol. I already have all my cards addressed and stamped and all my gifts are wrapped! They just need bows and ribbon but I didn’t want to do that too early or they would get crunched and messed up! I just love Christmas! Can you tell? Lol. I’m already going to be all set for Christmas when I get my own place. I have two large tubs FULL with ornaments. Lol. But I figured I should buy while I get 50% off. Lol. Because I won’t be working at Hallmark forever and their ornaments are EXPENSIVE! Lol. I love me some hallmark though. I could see being a manager of a Hallmark some day. That would be really awesome. You know, if I don’t become a teacher, publisher, translator, etc ;-) lol.
So yup, I think I will leave it here for tonight, because I should have been studying/reading for my last final and instead I decided to play Solitaire, watch Asian Dramas, and write a two and a half page long journal entry. OOPS. Lol. Oh well, after tomorrow this quarter is going to be over and I’m not going to even care what my grades are going to be. I’m going to just look forward and put all my effort into next quarter and make sure it doesn’t end up like this quarter did. It won’t though. I’ll be riding with my mom, and somehow that helps me get through the day. Lol. I dunno! We’ll see! Only time will tell.
Oh! And by the way, look forward to a lot more of this entries, I plan to update a LOT more regularly from now on. I like to write it all out, it helps me relieve stress, get down thoughts, etc. lol.

Toodles and Schnoogles
