Author's notes: Roy worries about how Maes will be affected by their child due to his obsessiveness with order and cleaning.

Roy was sitting on Maes' rocking chair, which he had been thoughtful enough to cover with pillows for him. Roy didn't know what to think when he first saw it, but he had clamped down on any irritation. Whatever crazy reasoning that had led his husband to do that had clearly not been enough to calm him down fully from such a change in his favourite chair, so he had threaded on egg shells for a week to avoid Maes' possible breakdown. That had included using his chair as often as he could and without complaining, and in that time Roy had grown quite fond of it. But now that Maes was much calmer and he was more relaxed himself, a thought started to worry him.

That was why he was currently rocking on the chair and iddly caressing his moving baby through his six-months-pregnant stomach, looking lost in thought. He tensed when he felt a hand on his shoulder, then tilted his head back to look into Maes' smiling face. The smile was a bit strained, though, and he looked a little worried. Roy immediately stood, or tried to - the size of the chair and his own stomach made him struggle and fail with his hastiness. Maes quickly walked around the chair and took a hold of Roy's arms, pulling him up before he became upset with his lately professed 'uselessness'. They stared blankly at each other.

"I am fine." They finally said, but their words came out at the same time. Both grinned in amusement, then made to start talking together again but Maes stopped and motioned for his husband to continue.

"You need the chair more than I do." Roy said and made to walk away, but his husband held his hand and halted his progress.

"Sit with me?" Roy frowned in confusion. Maes sat comfortably in the chair then patted his lap. Roy hesitated, but nodded uncomfortably as Maes' expression started clouding over.

He turned his back to him and grunted in surprise as he was promptly pulled onto his lap, then blushed despite himself as he moved to get more comfortable. When they were both comfortable with the sitting arrangement, Maes reached out to straighten their clothes then wrapped his arms around their child, slowly starting to rock the chair. Roy relaxed against him and wrapped his arms around Maes' own, iddly caressing one of his hands this time. They stayed in a comfortable silence for a few moments; when Roy was about to doze off Maes started a conversation.

"What had you so worried earlier?" he asked softly. Roy sighed and held his hand.

"You." he replied as softly, but didn't add to it..

"Me?" Maes prompted, tightening his hold on Roy's fingers. Roy sighed.

"Small children are loud and like to make messes." he said simply. His husband leaned in and kissed his temple.

"Do not worry, Roy. I am ready, I have been since the year of our wedding. It will be alright." he sounded confident, but Roy still had doubts. He simply nodded in reply, but made a mental note of writing to his father. He had offered to take care of his grandchildren when Roy was still an auror and Maes had been much busier in Hogwarts, maybe he wouldn't be oposed to raise their child if it got to be too much for Maes. "Besides, I have been dealing with children for ten years now." he added with a grin in his voice. Roy shook his head.

"As stupid as some students can be, they are not small children. Besides, you can just walk away from them when you are overwhelmed." Roy pointed out, but he had to admit it impressed him Maes had never used this 'walking out' benefit the Headmaster had conceded Maes due to his 'special case'. Roy would have over-used it in his place, or so he thought. It didn't cross his mind that he was still ignoring the Duels-substitute Professor Caliolli had gotten following him around in the working hours after his pregnancy started showing.

"Have some confidence in me, will you, Roy? I will be fine. If I am not, there is still you here while I regain my composure. Besides, there are so many things I want to teach and do with my child. I am sure the mess and the lack of order will pale in comparison to all the rest. It will be great, you will see." Roy's lips curved into a smile at the excitation in his best friend's voice. Perhaps he was worrying too much over nothing indeed. Maes had always been obsessed with details, he certainly had already fretted over the details of raising a child long before Roy had gotten pregnant.

"I see I am going to have to be the evil tyrant of a parent who imposes all the limits in the househood, hmm?" he joked, and Maes chuckled.

"If your few students are any indication, you will fit this role nicely." Maes said with a chuckle and Roy playfully swatted at his hand.

"Only the Gryffindors think I am an evil tyrant for your information." he said in reply and Maes chuckled again.

"Really, they do? That's a new one."

"Shut up, Maes."

"Yes, mama. Now, take a nap. You looked like you were about to fall asleep a few minutes ago, and I can see you are tired." Maes kissed his temple again and Roy sighed, melting further against him, starting to cherish his embrace far more than he had a few years previously. He closed his eyes and focused on the sound of Maes breathing, and his warmness enfolding him, and it didn't take very long for him to doze off. Maes stayed awake, watching his love sleep with a faint smile as he rocked the chair every now and again.
