It had never been easy for them; they weren’t graced with a quickness of wit, nor any remarkable gift. They weren’t graced with an ease of anything, really.

Crabbe and Goyle were not extraordinary; they were dull in every sense of the word. For the most part they plodded along, uncaring. But every now and then they would pass him in the corridor and they couldn’t help but wonder; for one so dull, why was there always the glimmering hope of something more?

He was that hated reminder - in the darkness, they were nothing; it took light to shine.
