My more internet-search-happy and on the up-and-up with Harry Potter friends may already know this but I just discovered
Muggle Quidditch! It looks really fun and apparently people have whole tournaments based around HP conventions or just random get-togethers.
WOW. I love people.
But what I Don't know is WHY is there a grasshopper/cricket on the Miami Valley Council Boy Scout Patch?
Seriously- my nephews collect Scout council patches from all over the place (apparently it's the thing to do in scouting, and it's kinda neat to see what they all look like) and they have some from the Miami Valley (Dayton OH) area.
The patch has the Wright "B" flyer on it, duh Dayton is home of the Wright Brothers and the fleur-de-lis is the Scout symbol so cool there, but seriously what is up with the cricket guy? I cannot think of any connection of the Miami Valley (and I grew up there) and a cricket/grasshopper. I can find nothing online.. it's a mystery and it's BUGGING ME!
Maybe I'll call the council office tomorrow and ask someone. LOL
EDIT: It might have something to do with the B&O Railroad(Baltimore and Ohio, runs right through Dayton)because they pioneered a locomotive that was nicknamed the "grasshopper" so it could be the whole transportation theme with the plane and the train? JUst a thought..
