A week full of win

We had a fabulous time at this year's Pirate's Ball, and I won 2nd place this year in the costume contest.  (I'll post a photo as soon as someone sends me one -- someone forgot to pack our camera.)   This year's most attendees' costumes were better than last years, so I was pretty excited to get a second place trophy.  Also I got to hear the Boat Drunks for the first time, and they were quite enjoyable.  They had some cool stuff at the auction, and we wound up donating a large sum to the chosen charity in exchange for (1) a couple nights at a friend's beach condo in Port Aransas (on the Texas coast, near Corpus Christi) and (2) a wicked cool *real* neon sign for the bar (around 25" x 20").

Then, on Tuesday we found out that our home-brewed stout won an Honorable Mention at Cervesafest (San Antonio's homebrew competition).  Considering how few of the Bexar Brewers placed, we're pretty excited!

Then last night was our monthly parrothead happy hour, which happened to coincide with the opening day of Fiesta (our 10-day long, mother of all celebrations), so we had a salsa contest.  I took a batch of my roasted salsa, and won first prize!

And finally -- thanks to improvements in my diet (I eat so much healthier once the weather gets warmer) and the fact that I've managed to keep up my Wii fit workouts -- I've actually lost a little weight.   (for two days in a row, my weight has been less than it's ever been since buying the Wii fit.)   Mind you -- I'm still overweight -- just not quite as overweight as I had been.

So there you have it -- a solid week of "win."  It doesn't happen that often -- so I had to share it with you while I could!

win, homebrew, parrot heads, recap, pirates, fundraisers
