Summary: He can always tell when it's her.
She’ll knock on his door at two a.m., and he’ll rouse himself out of bed, because he knows it’s her. Somehow he can always tell.
And she’ll be there, with her bag in hand, a grateful smile, “Can I stay here,” on her lips. He’ll let her in, and he’ll fight with himself for the rest of the hour, trying to decide whether to ask her why she’s come to him.
“Because you love me,” she’ll whisper against his lips, when he finally asks. The unsaid is that he won’t be able to bring himself to say no, because she’s right, and he does love her. No matter how much he wishes he could stop.
He tries to pretend it doesn’t bother him that the feeling isn’t mutual.
