I sent my holiday story to the Intergalatic Medicine Show today. *shrug* it's worth a shot. I did notice they had changed their submition methods. They still do electronic, but you have to click a link to send your email to them, then they send you an email you attach your story to when you reply. I have a Yule D&D based fantasy story that is so specialized that I hadn't found a professional market to submit it to, so I decided to try a Duotrope "Token Payment" search. Got a generic rejection from Apex, which at least lets me know they did receive it, regardless of what the auto-responder said. lol

My WIP all finished and out with dina_james to be bloodied, the writer's angst was creeping in. Depression was growing, that no matter how hard I worked on it, my writing would never be good enough to get published. My story "Tears for a Toad" has now been rejected more than four times. Screw it. I just sent it to Asimov's Magazine.  If I'm going to get rejected, I want to be rejected by the best, dammit!

Got a response from Apex today on my under 1000 word story. It was a link to short story manuscript format. It seems I forgot to put a title page in, or put my name and contact info in the header. In my defense, it was double-spaced, 1 1/2 margins, 12 pt times new roman, so it's wasn't awful, but still....

I think I'll go crawl under a rock now.

Well, I sent another story to Apex today.  A 750 word 'flash' fiction that got a good review from the two beta readers who read it. Oh, and I did check the submission guidelines for a minimum word count before I sent it.  Since I didn't see one, I figured they didn't care how long, just how good.
