Today started out as Pretty Shitty. My car has been in the shop for two days because the check engine light came on, which I assumed was because I may or may not have left the gas cap on too loose, so I figured they'd fix the problem easily and charge me not so much. Well, it turns out that there were actual problems. And it turns out that, while waiting for the light to go off on its own (once I tightened the gas cap), my 60-day lemon law warranty probably ran out (I was prepared to squabble about the specific timing if necessary). The word from the doesn't-call-me-back-in-a-timely-fashion service guy was $1200.
Eeeep!
In the end, there was a hole in the charcoal canister (no doubt caused by the fucking plows plowing me in and the snow freezing, causing undercarriage problems when I tried to drive out over it) and some valve assembly problem. Those aren't covered by the warranty, but since I had just bought the car from them, they took care of it for just the cost of labor. Woo-hoo!
To end the day in an even better fashion, I saw Edward Scissorhands performed as modern dance at
BAM. SO GOOD. I was skeptical -- it sounds awful silly. And no dialogue? Hmm. But it was great -- the music was lifted from Danny Elfman's score, and apparently Tim Burton imagined it as a musical in the first place when making the movie. So the music was great, the dancing was great, the sets (and just the way they used the sets and the lighting and all that good stuff) were outstandamazing, the humor was solid. It was just plain so good. There are only three performances left -- Fri/Sat 7:30, and Sat 2pm. Go see it. Totally.
Ian McKellan is doing at BAM in September. Sounds good.
Now if only I had fun things to do next week. It would be sweet if people decided to visit my city. If only...
