Weekend Update: 6 states in 2 days

This was a weekend of roadtripping: 6 states in 2 days (MA, NY, CT, RI, NH, ME)...

Friday

First Friday at Eastern Standard in Kenmore Square. The space is gorgeous, and felt very new yorkish to me (in a good way.) We got put in the private dining rooom, which was very nice. The service wasn't exactly speedy (we spent 3 hours there!) but it also didn't feel slow, because we were enjoying the room, the company and the food, which wasn't aways exactly perfect, but overall had some big hits. (My steak frites were REALLY good, if a little on the small side.)

After that I headed home and crashed, unable to get up the energy to go out.

Saturday

Waterfalls

Waterfire

We rented a minivan and drove to long island with ex-mike and our friend rachel to pickup a couple of tables mike bought on ebay, then into NYC to see the the NYC Waterfalls in the East River (a public art installation), had lunch in the city, met Rachel's dad and then headed to Providence for dinner and Waterfire. The waterfalls were really awesome, and I highly recommend a visit before they go away, i think in October.

Sunday
Mike and our friends Mikey and Timmy drove up to Portland ME to look for an antique map of the south end that Mike wanted (alas, they didn't have it), but we had decent lobster rolls by the harbor and walked around a little.

Headed home and had pizza and beer on my roof deck with Mike, Mikey an and Nick.

Finally headed with Nick over to Great Scott in Allston to see an excellent (loud!) show by a UK band called the Enemy. (See previous post). VERY loud, very good, and lots of promise. Since it was their first CD, they were playing to a very small crowd and honestly, didn't have that much to play, which made for a short set, but that's ok on a Sunday night.
