BMW commissioned some short films by major directors about four years ago all centered on a character by Clive Owen called "The Hire". They are all pretty solid, 8-minute movies. All represent the nature of the directors doing the work very well. Even Guy Ritchie comes off well. So be it.
The two strongest ones are by Tony Scott and John Frankenheimer.
I have to say, Tony Scott just doesn't do it for me as a filmmaker a good 98% of the time.
The Hunger was fantastic, but he is typically bogged down in overwrought messes like Top Gun, Enemy of the State, and Domino. Bombastic dreck. Not until I watched his portion of "The Hire" did I finally realize that he is very suited to the short form, having come up from commericials.

John Frankenheimer, on the other hand, is good 98% of the time. He has a vast canon of film classics on his resume, too many to list here, and if you don't know his work then look him up on IMBD for some education. And he is a master of the car chase....
