of vineyards and holidays and harbors...

GOD.
TODAY was the best day in the history of days.

Woke up to the rain, which was lovely because it's always nice to wake up to the rain, except if you're doing something outside, but I wasn't. PLUS it's extra-lovely in my dorm because rain means there aren't noisy kids eating and screaming outside of the cafeteria which is right outside/below my room at 7:00 in the morning.

My parents picked me up to go out to breakfast at our favorite place, Mabel's. Went to downtown Traverse City for awhile even though it was still raining a little, walked around the shops. Then we headed up to Leelanau peninsula to Fish Town, which is this adorable little town right on the water with some shops and restaurants. So we walked on the docks and then went and had drinks and light lunch right on the waterfront.

Then since it cleared up we went to a few wineries and did some wine tasting.
= NEW FAVORITE THING.
We went to one in Leelanau first, then to two more down the peninsula, including Chateau Grand Traverse. That one was the most beautiful, it was on a hilltop and it had views of the vineyards and you could see all the way to the bay. It was one of the most gorgeous places I've ever visited.

I loved tasting all the different types of wine, and I'm glad I actually know what I like now so when I buy wine at the store I'm not wasting my money on something I won't like. My favorites were the white wines, semi-dry, especially the Reislings, but OHMYGOD the sweet wines were the best. Especially the cherry wines, I had a sangria cherry wine which was amazing, and a cherry spiced wine, served slightly warmed up, that tasted like Christmas...and the dessert port wine that was served with chocolate<3

After the wineries we went back down to Traverse City and walked around the Cherry Festival for a bit, sampled everything cherry, then went back to my parents' hotel and got ready for dinner. We ate at a grille/bistro right on one of the harbors. amazinggggg.

THEN we went to the casino by the resort for a little while, didn't win anything ha, then went back to TC to get some coffees, then I came back here!

Seriously, best day ever. everevereverever.

Tomorrow is going to suck...frickin Bob Dylan concert tomorrow night, this place is going to be crazy. But I just remembered that since I have to work the suite tomorrow night, I think I only have to work in the morning in the office, so hooray for that. After work tomorrow night though my parents and I are going back to the bar we ate at Sunday night for dinner. =)

I'm living here for the rest of my life. I'm getting married in one of the vineyards, and buying a house right on the water, and working for Interlochen or the TC Symphony Orchestra. And my parents will buy a house on the same lake or bay, so they can babysit occasionally and we'll have campfires and BBQs and go wine-tasting every summer. It's already been decided.

sigh.

traverse city, family
