New Year, come and gone!

Bloody hell.  Broadband.  We seem to have arrived in the new millenium.

3 sets of workshop ideas, costings and demos due in the next week.  Have no idea where the bloody good camera has gone, just goes to show that you shouldn't bother disbanding the chaos... coulda told ya where it was before the tidy up, ie where it is not now.

Despite my best intentions the youngest are turning out as feral as they realistically were bound to with a signifigantly older brother - taking turns on the computer today, said older brother and Master 8 took it in turns grafitti-ing on each other as they waited to play, the elder turning elbows into cobwebs, the younger doodling psycho-looking rabbits with breasts. And nipples.  The Prawn happily kept himself amused with a bunch of plasticine (immortalising our dearly departed animals) and has chalked a six foot high robotic ant on the back verandah.  So maybe I got something right somewhere.

We've been having birds.  The quality isn't crash hot, these are taken from inside the house, with the assistance of a desperate-to-escape cat....

The kookaburras have moved in now that we don't have a dog.  There seems to be at least one breeding pair every fifty meters.  Talk about living with a swarm of harpies!  And I thought the young magpies were bad!  The owls are around again too, they thrumb away in the afternoons from the treetops like a herd of aborial cows.  Dont think we'll be seeing many snakes this season.

The promised locust plague made it's way through one day last year, there was a flurry of small hatchlings for a bit, but the cooler weather seems to have held them at bay out here.  Wish I'd planted more veg!  Mind you, they did decimate the germinating seedlings the kids planted for the Yates Sunflower Challenge.

Fire season was declared today. Less burning (fingers crossed!) more mowing.  heavens have just opened as I type, might go snoogie on the lounge.
