Sneaky bastard

I'm working through our Allocated Spending Plan for the pay and bonuses Heath will receive tomorrow. This means reading each bill, making sure the right info is entered into Quicken.

My cable company changing its billing date. So it's late. But that's what happens when they give you less than a week to review the bill. I didn't know the new billing date until the bill arrived.

I went to edit the date in Quicken, and noticed that the amount due had increased by $0.05. Had my cable company also sneakily increased their rates? No.

It turns out the STATE Telecom Excise Tax has been increased. Governor Paterson's tax increases are slowly sneaking through. When our Federal Income Tax went down as part of the Administration's stimulus plan, the State Income Tax went up. Not by much, but it diminished the gain somewhat.

Yeah, I'm going to be double-checking all my bills. And my costs. Gas in western New York is already higher than other parts of the nation, slowly creeping towards the $3.00 mark. Heath has noticed that whenever the cost per barrel goes down, the cost per gallon goes up. It's like a direct corolation.

No wonder half his colleagues live in PA and commute across state lines to work.

politics, new york, total money makeover
