Obama Justice Department Decision Will Allow Illegal Aliens to Register to Vote Granted, the headline is slightly misleading. It should read "could allow" instead of "will allow," but that's small potatoes. What is important is that Georgia will no longer be able to verify the citizenship of people requesting to vote.
I believe that voting is a benefit of being a citizen. The DOJ's decision makes a mockery of this wonderful priviledge. It is another step in lessening the importance of being a United States citizen.
I'm being flippant, of course, when I say I should move to Georgia. I don't like cheating the system. Maybe it's the 'good girl' attitude hidden within me *g*
A few months ago, someone suggested I should start a Citizenship Application Fee Fund (CAFF) and ask folks to contribute to it. At the time I laughed. Sadly, as the importance of citizenship is eroded, the cost of the actual application keeps rising. It's getting to the point where, despite hating asking for money, I start to wonder if launching CAFF isn't such a bad idea.
