Last night (06/24/2006), I went to the
Coolidge Corber Theater to see
Serenity, the big screen version of the cult TV show
Firefly as a midnight movie. I had known about the film for just slightly more than a month and was really looking forward to it. By the time I got to the theater, the showing was sold out, and it was only being shown on that night. A Coolidge employee at suggested waiting out outside in case someone has an extra ticket.
So at this point, it sucks to be me, and I’ve resigned myself to the fact that I’m probably not going to get to see the film, but I figured maybe I’ll hang around a bit and see if anyone has an extra ticket. Just as I’m leaving the building, a guy waiting in line to get in asks if I need an extra ticket. I say yes and he gives me an extra ticket free and clear. I offer to pay him for it, but he declined. The ticket was $8.50, but I figured for the great act of generosity, I’d give him a ten and say keep the change.
I was very pleasantly surprised and bowled over by this happening-one stranger being totally giving to another. Thanks to this person’s random act of kindness, I got to see the film I had been looking forward to all month.
