Since some folks are interested, here's what I'm looking for, more or less. I'm looking for something that could, technically, run Doom III, and run it well. Out of the box, DIII requires Pentium® 4 1.5 GHz or Athlon™ XP 1500+ processor or equivalent, 512 MB RAM, 8X CD-ROM, 64 MB VRAM, 2.15 GB disk space, and a 3D hardware Accelerator Card. DIII is a benchmark. I don't actually own it, and don't really expect to own it any time soon. Something that'll play Warcraft III should be sufficient.
While I will be playing some games, I'm also going to use this machine for MP3 management & playback. MP3s currently use up the bulk of my storage right now. I also require a CD Burner that can also play DVDs, and wireless is a must. I'd like this thing to weight at most 8 pounds, as I'm likely to be lugging it around quite a bit. An added bonus would be a TV tuner card that would let the monitor double as a TV and allow the computer to act as a DVR.
Tiger Direct has http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1161382&CatId=216. While it fails the DIII benchmark, it seems to cover most everything else I need. (Well, it could use a larger HD...)
