As the title says, Charlotte is dead. She passed away this wednesday at around 5.45, on 93 south.
How did she die?
Well, if you live in New Hampshire you would know we are having a pretty crappy snow storm right now. As I was headed to work that morning I was traveling down 93 south in the left lane when Charlotte started to swerve. I tried to correct her but to no avail. She hit the left guardrail, spun across the highway, hit the right guardrail which she ended up sliding back into, I have no clue how, unless I did more spinning then I thought. When she came to a stop she was smoking pretty hard so I got my door open and hopped the rail.
Luckily, in all this mess the gentleman behind me was okay. He pulled up about 30 feet in front of Charlotte and got out of his truck. I ran toward him and yelled to find out if he was okay. He didn’t get hit at all, thank goodness! He tried to help get me over the guardrail but I really didn’t want to because I was worried a car was going to skid and hit us both. He asked me if I needed him to call anyone for me, and I guess I didn’t hear him so he asked again. I totally forgot I had a cell phone so I said we should probably call the police. He couldn’t get his phone to work but an off duty officer had been traveling down the highway in his truck and pulled over to help. He called a state trooper while the other gentleman sat with me. He asked if the airbags went off and I told him they did. Then he said he always wondered what it felt like, I told him I didn’t know because I honestly wasn’t paying attention when they opened.,.
The officer came back over and said the state police were on the way. So he brought me over to his truck so I could warm up. The other gentleman made sure we were all set then left so he could go to work. I thanked him but I feel so rude from this whole ordeal because I forgot to ask what their names were. I would have liked to send them a thank you. ,.,
While in the officers truck I remembered I had a phone so I tried for about 10 minutes to get it to work until I got a hold of the mom figure. She was really freaked out and she wouldn’t drive to get me off the side of the road so I asked if she could get Ryan to come get me. She said she would try and we got off the phone so I could call borders. I talked to Garth and told him what happened. He asked if that meant I wouldn’t be coming in today, so I told him it probably did.
The state police showed up a little but later, so I got my registration out of Charlotte to give the state officer, along with my backpack (not for the state officer, just so I would have it). I thanked the other officer and he drove off to wherever he was headed. I sat with the state officer in his car for a little while and we went over the details of the insurance and the claim. While we were sitting, a blue car pulled over to the side of the highway and it was Ryan. He came back to the cruiser and I realized I had lost my glasses somewhere so Ryan went to my car and found them stuck under my seat. I finished up my paperwork with the officer while waiting for the tow truck to come for my car and taken away, then he handed me off to Ryan so I could be taken to the hospital to get checked out, as was the overall recommendation by both officers and Ryan.
So Ryan and I got into his car, which is just where I wanted to be in another car, and we went to the nearest exit (exit 18 {yes, that’s right, I didn’t even get as far as one exit away before I crashed. Awesome.} ). We stopped at the gas station off the exit and I got a yoo-hoo while Ryan got gas, then we got back on the highway (Gulp!) to head to the hospital.
I got checked in and looked at very quickly at the E.R. One nurse wanted to collar and board me but the doctor decided that wasn’t necessary. My official status was “banged up”, so they gave me some flexural for the pains I am currently feeling. The nurse said that it would be worse tonight; hell tomorrow, then it would start getting better after that. It already hurts badly tonight, I can’t wait until tomorrow.
After I was discharged Ryan brought me back to my house where I called Samantha to tell her about the car, and the tow company to get Charlotte towed to the house, as was Samantha’s request. Charlotte should be here tomorrow so I can clean her out.
So, I was really fucking lucky! My car is ruined but no one else got hurt, and I’m not all the worse for wear either, just achy and bruised. Funny thing is I was telling Ren not that long ago that I had the feeling I would get killed in a car accident soon. Glad it didn’t turn out that way, especially since it would be weird to die on the same day as Ally.
So now I need to find a way to get a car so I can get to and from work but until then Ren offered for me to stay with her so that I can just walk to work. I feel bad imposing but I’m glad I can be there to help if she needs it ^^
In the odd chance the gentleman in the truck or the off duty officer read this, I hope they will get in touch with me so I can thank them. But as for now I am going to try and see if I can get comfortable lying down in bed.
And though it is late, I hope everyone had a good Valentine’s day.,.,
