It's finally here, well not exactly but still. My favorite season of the year! The trees are starting to change, the animals starting to move to warmer climes or starting their courting to give birth in the abundant spring.
The chill air telling of the approaching cold, the trees growing dormant to survive the harsh winter. The inevitable climbing desire to have hot cocoa on hand on a near daily basis (it's my mainstay during the winter lol).
Looking forward to the snow! I love the snow, also came to the realization how on a moonlit night the bare trees and white capped hills, glowing silver under that watchful orb remind me of Hueco Mundo (as does White Sands New Mexico if you ever get a chance), and perhaps might be the reason I found that realm to be very beautiful.
But oh god the trees!
Where I grew up there was no fall (I'm convinced that Florida has one season: Green, might be colder but it is not fall), but even still it was my favorite season. My favorite holidays Halloween(Samhain), the only day of the year you can dress up like something you aren't and not be considered a freak, that is dedicated to death and darkness (well the decorations, and horror movies are anyway, though the actual Celtic holiday is not, but rather it is supposed to be a celebration of the lives that have passed on); and Thanksgiving (which is filled with fond memories of food, family, camping and hiking in the woods for me, so there is much nostalgia this time of year). Not to mention my birthday, all occur in the fall, and up here, on the most beautiful day of the year, when the whole forest is afire with the colors of fall, literally the week before most of the trees loose their leaves.
I love this season!
Also, beware for those of you who drive a lot: The animals are out in force depending where in the world you are. Just today, in the span of a couple hours, I saw five deer and about thirty wild turkey (crossing the road, they look so funny bobbling in a line). Roadkill isn't nice; a pointless death, even if your car can survive it fine and hitting a deer can injure you m'kay?
