Happy Birthday to This.

Today is my LiveJournal's fourth birthday. If my LiveJournal were a person, it'd already be potty-trained and looking to enter the public school system. If my LiveJournal were a dog, it would be older than I am in a time-warpy, I'm-my-own-grandpa kind of way.

Instead, it's right at the age where, like Google Maps, I can't remember what I did without it. I'm sure I didn't e-mail everyone I know my random musings on every movie I've seen, my opinions on minute aspects of popular culture, and constant updates about my commute to work. But I bet that, when people asked "What's new?" I still answered "nothing" even though everyone was missing out on all of my, like, thoughts and stuff.

Anyway, it's been fun, I'm glad wonkywheels forced me to get one, and I hope there's more interesting things going on in year No. 5.

Enough about my quasi-writing. I want to kvell a bit about Jesse's. He had his One Story reading today, and he can't really talk about how good he was without seeming arrogant-but I can. I was privy to a couple of his in-apartment practice readings. When it came time to do the real thing, it took much longer for Jesse to read his story because everyone was laughing so much. Out of the nine people who read their stories, he decisively got the most laughter. It actually made me feel bad for not laughing out loud during the practices. Afterward, I got to stand next to him as everyone came up and complimented him, so I got some of the reflected glory. One woman told him that it was obvious he'd really been to St. Louis, and I'm not sure that's true. I won't tell if you won't.
