Haiti Donations Needed...The Shilling Continues

Jun 07, 2010 08:48

Some of you have been clamoring for a list of some small items that I still need for my volunteer physical therapy trip to Haiti.  While enjoying the awesome breakfast at Zazie the other day, the reuster helped me brainstorm a list.  And here it is:
  • shower flip flops
  • sunblock (prefer baby or sensative skin with at least 30 SPF--hey, I'm pale)
  • waist passport ( Read more... )

volunteer, haiti, donate

I'm calling dibs on the water bottle, notebook, travel first aid kit, and um... laundry soap.

so do you want one of those flat bottles with a side clip or something more like a nalgene?

ps the link to the wallet isn't working.

Damn linking! Will fix if I can find the one I liked. Ha.

The flat bottle with a clip would be the best of everything. More compact. And thanks! Email me and I'll send my address!

Carabiners are my secret best friend and also magic. I love those things soooooo freaking much!

Magic is a very, very good word for them.

I have one as a key ring for work keys. And a spare one for my work keys, as a back up. Which now that I type this seems uber-strange.

I use them for keys too, occasionally having to retire them when they lose their spring :(

That's why I saved that spare one. Backup.

Hey, I fixed that link! Go, REI website!

QUESTION: are you allowed to ignore that 3oz liquid rule re:planes?

No, but honestly I'm going to check my two big bags (one personal, one with donations from my students). So the 3 oz thing doesn't matter. I will put the travel first aid in one of the checked bags, as it may have small liquid things.

BTW, I hate that 3 oz rule. I understand it, but I hate it all the same. It does, however, remind me of Helsinki and my trip to Russia as we were there when this because a new rule.

okay, b/c I was thinking about the sunscreen and if you used that Neutragena spray sunscreen for the face and if you'd be able to take it.

btw, the brand I use is a 10$ bottle that lasts an entire year. I have sensitive skin, too, and it is wonderful in humid areas. It's not greasy, doesn't have a weird smell, and I've used it for years.

That one and the baby one by Aveeno are the 2 best faces one's I've used. No stinging, no strange chemical smell, and they actually work.

and as a jetsetter, I know exactly what you mean about the rule. It was the reason I started sending my luggage ahead by UPS :P
